Mid-Level Product Manager – B2C Growth & Conversion (Chicago Loop, Hybrid) Next Step Recruitment is supporting a confidential client — a proven leadership team building a new high-urgency B2C marketplace — in their search for a hands-on Product Manager. This is a rare chance to join a consumer product at exactly the right moment: moving from scrappy to scaled, with the urgency and clarity that comes from founders who have succeeded in this space before. This role is 100% consumer-facing. We are not considering candidates from B2B SaaS, internal tools, or low-volume environments. The right person has directly managed large-scale B2C funnels (tens of thousands+ users), run rigorous A/B tests, and delivered measurable conversion and revenue impact. This is a hybrid position based in downtown Chicago (Chicago Loop). The team works in-office three days a week, so only local candidates or those willing to relocate will be considered. What You’ll Do • Own the product roadmap with real autonomy and accountability • Use AI tools daily (ChatGPT, Claude, etc.) to move faster at every stage — ideation, specs, QA prep, data summaries • Lead feature development end to end: define scope, write requirements, sketch user flows, and partner with engineering to ship • Set up and run large-scale consumer A/B tests — determining sample sizes, identifying meaningful differences, and interpreting statistical significance • Dig into data yourself (SQL, Sheets, dashboards) to find insights, spot patterns, and guide decision-making • Drive alignment across marketing, operations, and support functions Who’s a Fit • 3–8 years of consumer-facing PM experience in high-volume B2C (e-commerce, marketplaces, or consumer apps with significant user bases) • Direct experience optimizing checkout flows, conversion funnels, or monetization paths at scale • Hands-on with A/B testing and statistical analysis • Strong data chops: comfortable self-serving in SQL or spreadsheets • Energetic, adaptable, and already using AI tools every day • Based in Chicago or willing to relocate for hybrid work (3 days/week in-office) Who’s Not a Fit • PMs from B2B SaaS, internal tools, or low-volume products • Candidates who need a dedicated analyst or designer to execute • Anyone without direct ownership of a high-volume B2C funnel • Remote-only candidates unwilling to work in Chicago three days/week Bonus Points For • Experience in ticketing, events, or other high-volume marketplaces • Mobile or responsive web experience • Light HTML/CSS fluency • Work on lean, early-stage product teams This is a role for a builder and operator who knows B2C inside and out — someone ready to own outcomes, move fast, and scale a consumer marketplace with speed and impact.
