As we launch our new “Buy New” feature, we’re looking for someone entrepreneurial and trend-savvy to help us define what beauty looks like on BNTO. This is an opportunity to shape the category from the ground up, introducing emerging skincare and cosmetics brands that complement our fashion-first lens and resonate with our style-conscious customer.
About the Role
We’re hiring a Beauty + Skincare Merchandising Consultant to lead the sourcing, onboarding, and management of a curated assortment of trending and emerging beauty and skincare brands. This role is instrumental in building the category from the ground up—shaping a portfolio that reflects our brand identity and resonates with our fashion-forward customer.
The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of the U.S. beauty market, strong brand relationships, and a sharp eye for what’s next. You’ll balance trend forecasting with data-driven decision-making, and instinct with commercial strategy. From assortment planning to go-to-market execution, you’ll bring a creative point of view and entrepreneurial mindset to define what beauty looks like on BNTO.
Although this is an independent contractor position, there is potential for this role to transition to a member of our full-time employee team.
Your Duties & Responsibilities Include:
Category Strategy + Merchandising
• Develop a go-to-market strategy for beauty & skincare on BNTO
• Build and maintain a pipeline of trend-right, emerging brands that align with our customer and aesthetic.
• Lead brand outreach, pitching BNTO’s vision and negotiating terms for e-commerce
• Partner with Planning to build seasonal assortments, set margin targets, and manage category performance
• Collaborate with Ops to ensure smooth onboarding, inventory management, and product data accuracy.
Market + Trend Research
• Stay plugged into the beauty and skincare space—monitoring trends, launches, and shifts in consumer behavior.
• Conduct competitive analysis to ensure BNTO’s positioning is differentiated, relevant, and on-brand.
• Gather customer feedback to inform future category growth and assortment planning.
Your Experiences and Skills Include:
• 5+ years of experience in merchandising, buying, or brand partnerships. Experience in the beauty and skincare industry is required.
• Deep understanding of the global beauty landscape - we want to source trending brands to build customer loyalty and then also be a trust discovery source for our customer, we’ve established this in apparel and we want to establish this in beauty as well
• Proven ability to identify whitespace and source on-brand, high-potential product
• Strong brand communication and negotiation skills
• Detail-oriented with a high bar for product, presentation, and storytelling
• Highly collaborative—comfortable working cross-functionally with Planning, Marketing, and Operations
• Start-up mindset: scrappy, solutions-oriented, and excited to build from zero
• Ability to travel if needed, including internationally.
• Ability to attend in-person meetings at either our Los Angeles or New York City office.
Compensation and Benefits:
• The pay range is $40.00 to $55.00 per hour, with the higher end of the band being reserved for candidates with steep, senior experience. Final compensation, level and job title will be determined by relevant factors such as professional experience, skill sets and location.
• Initial contract term may be from one (1) to six (6) months.
• This position may be a contract-to-hire relationship.
