Role description
Position Overview
The BigCommerce Architect will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing e-commerce solutions using BigCommerce. This role requires deep technical expertise, a strong understanding of e-commerce best practices, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that meet client needs.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Solution Design: Architect end-to-end e-commerce solutions on BigCommerce, including custom integrations, storefront designs, and third-party app configurations.
β’ Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance to development teams, ensuring adherence to best practices, performance optimization, and scalability.
β’ Customization & Development: Develop custom themes, templates, and functionalities using BigCommerce Stencil, Handlebars, and JavaScript.
β’ Integration: Design and implement integrations with payment gateways, ERP systems, CRMs, and other third-party tools using BigCommerce APIs and webhooks.
β’ Performance Optimization: Analyze and optimize storefront performance, including page load times, SEO, and user experience.
β’ Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
β’ Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews, ensure compliance with BigCommerce standards, and oversee testing to deliver bug-free solutions.
β’ Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation for architectures, customizations, and integrations to support ongoing maintenance.
β’ Stay Updated: Keep abreast of BigCommerce platform updates, industry trends, and emerging technologies to recommend innovative solutions.
Qualifications
Experience:
β’ 5+ years of experience in e-commerce platform development, with at least 3 years focused on BigCommerce.
β’ Proven track record of architecting and delivering complex BigCommerce projects.
Technical Skills
β’ Expertise in BigCommerce Stencil framework, Handlebars, and JavaScript.
β’ Strong knowledge of BigCommerce APIs, webhooks, and integration patterns.
β’ Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue.js).
β’ Experience with GraphQL, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
β’ Familiarity with DevOps tools, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud).
Education: Bachelorβs degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications: BigCommerce certifications (e.g., BigCommerce Stencil Developer, BigCommerce Platform Expert) are a plus.
