Role description
Job Summary/Basic Function: The purpose of this role is to manage the end-to-end purchasing and lifecycle management of all hardware and software for OIT, ensuring efficient deployment to OIT technicians and adherence to university and state guidelines. Candidate is expected to work from Boise State's main campus. Department Overview: OIT Business Services provides billing for all OIT services, mail services, telephone, long-distance and cell phones, computer hardware repair, and other University IT services. OIT Business Services handles contract management, equipment purchasing processing, and contract compliance of all OIT purchases. Level Scope: Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute on a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision making. This level is typically focused on self development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training. Essential Functions: 60 % of Time Buyer, Associate will: β€’ Purchase products for resale at locations and concessions; negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery with vendors β€’ Oversee merchandise assortment including vendor and product selection β€’ Establish guidelines for merchandising plans and retail pricing β€’ Process and enter all purchase orders in the current inventory system β€’ Monitors budget and makes adjustments to buying plans as needed β€’ Monitors receiving and transferring of product to inventory β€’ Train, direct, supervise, hire and evaluate student employees 35% of Time Buyer, Associate will: β€’ Ensure service catalog for hardware/software orders is up to date β€’ Optimize vendor processes and e-commerce web portals to ease ordering processes β€’ Reconcile all purchases on PCard in a timely manner. β€’ Collaborate with OIT Business staff for large purchases and purchasing contracts. β€’ Reports on budget usage and lifecycle replacement plans β€’ Process internal billing for Hardware Asset Management fees β€’ Collaborate and coordinate with technical staff to update service catalog and anticipate orders β€’ Process the salvage of retired equipment/coordinating with Pacific Recycling and process vendor payments to Boise State University 5% of Time Buyer, Associate must: Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: β€’ Understand sales reports and the impact on current and future orders β€’ Work with multiple people across business units to meet future and/or urgent deadlines β€’ Maintain high levels of communication and cooperation with buying and operational counterparts β€’ Perform detailed work under pressure β€’ Summarize and present large amounts of information to groups of people β€’ Provide excellent attention to detail and identify key information within large sets of data β€’ Working knowledge of general retail practices and merchandise planning. β€’ Proven ability to dependably meet goals in a timely and accurate fashion and work well under periods of pressure. β€’ Assist in creating and maintaining an accurate annual budget for the general merchandise business Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
