Role description
At Launchpoint, we move fast, build smart, and prioritize results. We're a no-fluff, high-output team focused on delivering clean, efficient builds that perform under pressure and exceed client expectations.
As a part-time contract Shopify Developer, your role is to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of client-facing Shopify sites and assist in the upkeep of Launchpoint's internal marketing site. You'll work closely with our internal team and other contractors to ensure projects are delivered on time, to spec, and with technical excellence.
We're looking for someone who can:
β’ Jump in quickly and learn fast
β’ Communicate clearly and follow direction with precision
β’ Write clean, scalable code within Shopify's ecosystem
β’ Troubleshoot efficiently and solve problems independently
β’ Deliver on tasks without hand-holding or excuses
This is not a training ground, it's an opportunity to sharpen your skills in a fast-paced environment and contribute meaningfully to real-world projects. You'll be expected to show up, ship work, and continuously improve.
Requirements
Core Responsibilities
Shopify Development
β’ Build, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
β’ Implement responsive layouts, custom features, and third-party app integrations
β’ Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, ensuring cross-browser and device compatibility
β’ Build and/or maintain 4-5 Shopify sites per month (depending on scope and size)
Maintenance & Internal Support
β’ Conduct regular health checks and implement performance improvements
β’ Maintain and iterate on Launchpoint's internal marketing site
β’ Build internal tools such as dashboards, client portals, and automations
β’ Maintain clean documentation and ensure SEO, tags, and pixels are implemented correctly
Project Scoping & Collaboration
β’ Partner with designers, strategists, and project managers to scope and estimate new builds and features
β’ Contribute to planning scalable, maintainable solutions
β’ Flag risks early and recommend better approaches when needed
Execution & Self-Management
β’ Manage your own technical timelines and deliverables
β’ Use project management tools to track tasks and meet deadlines
β’ Communicate regularly with the team about progress, blockers, and status
Nice-to-Have Skills
β’ Ability to translate Figma or design files into clean, functional code
β’ Familiarity with API integrations and handling dynamic response data
β’ Understanding of user-centered thinking and frontend best practices
β’ Comfort testing your own work before handoff
β’ Bonus tech experience: TypeScript, Angular, NgRx, REST APIs, Bootstrap, Tailwind
What Success Looks Like
This is a contractor role, but expectations are high. You'll be trusted with real deliverables and held accountable for results.
You must be able to:
β’ Problem-Solve Independently
If something is unclear or blocked, speak up early. Ask questions. Offer solutions. You're expected to keep moving, not wait around.
β’ Manage Your Work Without a PM You'll own your timelines and task tracking. If you're waiting on something (designs, assets, decisions), follow up β and keep following up
β’ Deliver on Time, Always Set realistic ETAs and stick to them. If something will cause a delay, call it out before it becomes a surprise
β’ Communicate Clearly & Proactively Keep the team informed. Use Slack and ClickUp (or our tools) to tag the right people and add context to every update
Bottom Line
This is a tactical, fast-paced role for someone who loves building and can be trusted to get things done right the first time. If you thrive in a self-managed environment and are ready to consistently deliver sharp, on-time work β we want to work with you.
Let us know what you bring to the table.
