Role description
At NerdWallet, we’re on a mission to bring clarity to all of life’s financial decisions and every great mission needs a team of exceptional Nerds. We’ve built an inclusive, flexible, and candid culture where you’re empowered to grow, take smart risks, and be unapologetically yourself (cape optional). Whether remote or in-office, we support how you thrive best. We invest in your well-being, development, and ability to make an impact because when one Nerd levels up, we all do.
We are looking for a CRM Manager to take our user email communications to the next level. As our program expands, you will help shape the development, implementation, and optimization of our engagement campaigns. These campaigns reach both new and active audiences through onboarding, cross-sell, browse abandonment, and promotional journeys to drive engagement with a variety of features, products, and verticals. You will build operational plans that welcome new users and deepen relationships with existing ones, by using data-driven insights to deliver meaningful and revenue-generating campaigns.
In this role, you will lead the day-to-day management and long-term operational strategy of our CRM platform. You will design, build, and launch automated email, SMS, and push notification campaigns while serving as a primary user of our CRM and marketing technology stack. You will also guide the technical implementation of new campaigns and features. Once launched, you will measure success by monitoring campaign performance, analyzing key metrics, and sharing insights that highlight opportunities for A/B testing and ongoing optimization to boost engagement, conversion, and impact.
This role reports to the Director, CRM.
Where You Can Make An Impact
• Drive CRM strategy: Translate business goals into actionable CRM marketing strategies. Build thoughtful customer journeys and create segmentation strategies that span onboarding, engagement, retention, and winback campaigns.
• Use data to inspire action: Leverage insights from campaign performance, testing, and customer behavior to optimize and scale CRM efforts. Share learnings and best practices with peers and stakeholders.
• Champion operational excellence: Build and document best practices for CRM operations. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and support processes that are efficient, scalable, and future-ready.
• Balance priorities and build alignment: Manage multiple priorities with clarity and focus. Partner with Analytics, Product, Engineering, Program Management, and Creative teams to bring ideas to life and maximize impact across the business.
Your Experience
• 5+ years of relevant professional marketing experience (lifecycle marketing experience is a plus).
• 2+ years of hands-on experience with at least one major CRM/marketing automation platform (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Iterable, Braze, HubSpot, Marketo, Klaviyo).
• Strong understanding of data structures, segmentation logic, and data management principles.
• Experience with API integrations and webhooks to connect and sync data across systems.
• Proficiency in HTML and CSS for building and troubleshooting email templates.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as AMPscript, Handlebars, or Liquid to enable advanced personalization.
• Project management experience with the ability to oversee multiple campaigns and priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to analyze campaign performance and testing outcomes, using insights to guide decision-making.
• Strategic perspective to see how CRM operations impact the customer lifecycle and business goals.
