Role description
Digital Technology Lead This role is with a DeWinter ecommerce Partner 100% Remote Role 12 Month+ contract (or contract to hire, if desired) As the primary digital architect, you’ll drive the strategy and execution of digital infrastructure and customer-facing applications across the organization. . You’ll set the direction for our website, connected product cloud, mobile app, ecommerce, CRM and analytics domains. You’ll ensure that this entire technology platform meets the company’s user experience and cost requirements You’ll architect and align the company’s digital technology roadmap with ambitious business goals—ensuring cohesive integration across platforms, controlling costs, and mitigating security risks. This role is foundational in ensuring the digital ecosystem scales with the company’s growth while delivering an outstanding user experience. Key Responsibilities • Research, architect, design, and build the development of a secure, scalable, and end-to-end platform for supporting B2C and B2B businesses selling a new line of innovative smart eyewear products. • Creatively thinking through the end-to-end customer journey and architecting a system that enables a vastly superior experience over what large companies can do with entrenched, legacy systems. • Oversee integration of third-party logistics provider. • Identify, vet, and select the necessary interconnected systems and applications to support the businesses, including CRM, customer support, ecommerce, payment processing, email automation, site plug-ins, and analytics systems. • Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions and system architecture. • Define and enforce coding standards, architectural best practices, and system documentation. • Work with co-founder & COO to negotiate agreements with selected partners; and help to stand-up and operate the business. • Select appropriate platforms, frameworks, and third-party services to accelerate development and ensure future scalability. • Collaborate and mentor internal and external engineering resources, designers, and a digital product manager, fostering a high-performing cross-functional design & development team. • Oversee quality assurance, deployment, and ongoing maintenance of the platform, ensuring high availability, accessibility, and security. • Communicate technical decisions, progress, and challenges to non-technical stakeholders and company leadership. Required Skills & Qualifications • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field. • Proven experience as a software or systems architect, ideally in ecommerce or consumer tech startups. • Deep knowledge of modern web technologies, frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js, Django), and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Azure, Firebase). • Strong experience with system integration: CRM (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot), email marketing (e.g., Klaviyo, Mailchimp, SendGrid), customer support (e.g., Zendesk, Intercom), and analytics platforms (e.g., GA, Heap, Amplitude, Hotjar). • Direct experience with standing-up a HubSpot-based architecture is highly preferred • Expertise in database design, data modeling, and API development. • Familiarity with agile development methodologies and DevOps practices. • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills. • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced & fluid startup environment and adapt to evolving business needs. Preferred Qualifications • Experience launching consumer hardware or health-tech products. • Familiarity with accessibility standards and privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR). • Prior work with ecommerce systems geared toward an older demographic (aged 50+) preferred.
