Role description
Vuori is re-defining what athletic apparel looks like: built to move and sweat in but designed with a casual aesthetic to transition into everyday life. We draw inspiration from an active coastal California lifestyle; an integration of fitness, creative expression and life. Our high energy fast paced retail environment is reflected in the clothes we make. We aim to inspire others to take on all aspects of their lives with clarity, enthusiasm and purpose…while having a lot of fun along the way. We are proud to be an outlet for opportunity and for personal growth and success. Job Description As we grow and evolve our analytics capabilities, we’re investing in operationalizing advanced data science to fuel smarter decisions across merchandising, inventory, customer experience, and supply chain. We're looking for an experienced Director of Data Science to lead our applied data science team, focused on delivering scalable, production-grade solutions that drive measurable business outcomes — with a strong emphasis on consumer intelligence and personalization. This is a hands-on leadership role that balances technical depth with organizational influence and plays a key role in the day-to-day execution of our analytics roadmap. What you'll get to do: Operational Leadership • Translate the analytics strategy into an actionable data science roadmap, working closely with the technology and business leaders. • Own execution of predictive and prescriptive analytics use cases across business functions, with emphasis on customer intelligence, retention, and personalization. • Establish repeatable workflows for model development, testing, deployment, and monitoring in production. Cross-Functional Delivery • Collaborate with Marketing, CRM, Digital Product, and product teams to develop customer-facing data products and segmentation strategies. • Support lifecycle marketing, acquisition, and retention through predictive modeling (e.g., churn prediction, next-best-action, lookalike modeling). • Work closely with merchandising, planning, and eCommerce to deliver customer-informed product recommendations, channel strategy, and pricing decisions. • Partner with Data Engineering and Data Platform teams to ensure infrastructure supports scalable consumer data models. Team Development & Mentorship • Lead and mentor a team of data scientists focused on both customer and operational use cases. • Drive best practices for feature engineering, model development, and reproducibility. • Develop a center of excellence for consumer analytics, with reusable frameworks and playbooks. Model Performance & Measurement • Define and track business impact of consumer analytics initiatives: customer retention uplift, increase in average order value, reactivation rates, etc. • Implement A/B and multivariate testing to validate personalization and targeting strategies. • Ensure transparency, governance, and ethical use of customer data in all modeling efforts. Qualifications Who you are: • 12+ years of experience in data science or advanced analytics, with at least 3 years leading teams. • Demonstrated success applying data science to consumer behavior, personalization, and lifecycle marketing in a B2C or retail apparel context. • Experience delivering models such as: • Customer segmentation (RFM, behavioral, ML-based) • Customer lifetime value (CLV) modeling • Personalized recommendations • Churn prediction & win-back targeting • Multi-touch attribution or media mix modeling • Strong hands-on ability in Python, SQL, and tools like Pandas, scikit-learn, or Spark. • Business acumen and the ability to translate complex analysis into practical, audience-tailored recommendations. • Bachelor’s or Master’s in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Applied Math, Computer Science). • Apparel or fashion retail experience where brand affinity, style preferences, and return behavior play key roles. • Experience with modern marketing stacks (e.g., CDPs (hightouch), Attentive, Braze etc). • Familiarity with real-time data applications for web/app personalization. • Working knowledge of data privacy regulations and ethical AI practices related to customer data. Additional Information Our investment in you: At Vuori, we’re proud to offer the following to our employees: • Health Insurance • Savings and Retirement Plan • Employee Assistance Program • Generous Vuori Discount & Industry Perks • Paid Time Off • Wellness & Fitness benefits The salary range for this role is $181,200 per year - $242,550 per year. This role is bonus eligible. Vuori is proud to be an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
