About PlanITROI
Since 2001, PlanITROI has been providing global reverse logistics, IT Asset Disposition, and Asset Recovery Services for OEMs, retailers, enterprises, education, and SMB organizations, committed to preserving the highest levels of environmental responsibility and data security while changing lives with their retired computing devices. PlanITROI leverages the circular economy to do social good, by turning clients returned, retired, or idle IT devices, laptops, PCs, smartphones, and tablets, etc., into re-certified, affordable technology solutions sold directly and through the largest retailers in the world!
Director of Operations overview: PlanITROI is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Operations to lead, scale, and inspire a high-performance team within a fast-paced, dynamic working environment. This pivotal role is responsible for optimizing all aspects of operations, including manufacturing, logistics, quality, and customer service—to support our mission of delivering best-in-class re-manufactured technology products.
You will play a critical role in developing and executing scalable processes, automation strategies, and data-driven road-maps that consistently exceed service-level agreements (SLAs), production targets, and client expectations—while improving cost efficiency and operational agility.
Our Operations span Receiving, Production, Repair, Product Cleaning and Customization, Parts Management, Finished Goods, E-Commerce Fulfillment, Reverse Logistics, and Customer Service. This role reports directly to the VP of Operations and is expected to be both hands-on and visionary.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead daily operational execution across all functions—from production and quality control to logistics and inventory—ensuring high throughput, cost efficiency, and service excellence.
• Cultivate a dynamic, high-performance culture by coaching and mentoring operations leaders and front-line staff to achieve ambitious KPIs.
• Drive operational excellence by identifying, developing, and standardizing best practices across manufacturing processes, including refurbishment, configuration, and quality assurance.
• Oversee all reverse logistics activities, including returns, asset recovery, and reprocessing, to maximize asset value and minimize waste.
• Implement automation and process improvement initiatives across receiving, production, and outbound logistics to increase accuracy and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and process documentation aligned with RIOS, R2V3, and OSHA standards; lead successful certification and audit readiness.
• Manage third-party vendors for testing, data wiping, and imaging solutions, ensuring compliance and technological innovation.
• Monitor production flow and inventory backlogs, proactively resolving bottlenecks to meet internal and client SLAs.
• Define and track key operational metrics (e.g., yield, cycle time, on-time delivery, first-pass quality) to continuously improve performance.
• Collaborate with eCommerce and Sales teams to deliver customer-specific product builds and drive fulfillment excellence.
• Forecast, plan, and manage parts and consumables inventory for production and repair operations using real-time and historical data.
• Direct and improve repair operations for failed units from Production and QC to minimize rework time and improve asset recovery rates.
• Champion a culture of continuous improvement, applying Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies to eliminate inefficiencies and improve productivity.
• Optimize facility layout and space utilization for production, storage, and logistics activities to support growth and scalability.
• Build a resilient, adaptable operations team that thrives under change and supports PlanITROI’s mission to deliver innovative IT asset life-cycle solutions.
Requirements & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
• 8+ years of experience leading operations in electronics manufacturing, re-manufacturing, or reverse logistics environments.
• Proven success building and leading Operations and Production teams in high-volume, quality-focused settings.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher) is required.
• Project Management experience desired.
• Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes, production flows, and quality control systems.
• Demonstrated expertise in reverse logistics, refurbishment workflows, and asset recovery strategies.
• Experience managing third-party vendors for specialized services (e.g., wiping, imaging, testing).
• Strong understanding of logistics, fulfillment, and e-commerce operations, including pick/pack/ship methodologies.
• High proficiency in tools and platforms for reporting, automation, and process optimization.
• Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
• Ability to think strategically while driving day-to-day operational results.
