Role description

As the Director of Technology, you will play a key role as part of Seasalt’s Senior Leadership Team. Responsible for Technology Services at Seasalt, you will define and develop a technology vision and roadmap aligned to Seasalt’s broader business strategy. Through your leadership, the Technology team will execute the vision that will cover Operational, Development and Data Services. You will represent Technology at the senior leadership level, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, providing technical guidance, insight and innovation. Please note that this role is available remotely across the UK with occasional travel to our Head Office locations in Cornwall. If you are a Cornwall based candidate, this role will be based at Head Office with a hybrid working approach. You'll help us by: • Defining and executing the technology vision and roadmap aligned with the business strategy. • Building and leading cross-functional teams in architecture, engineering, operations, data, and development. • Driving innovation in digital customer experience, ecommerce, supply chain tech, and in-store technologies. • Providing technical leadership and influence at the Senior Leadership team • Overseeing enterprise architecture to ensure scalable, interoperable, and future-ready systems. • Defining and enforcing architectural standards, patterns, and governance across all platforms (e.g., ecommerce, POS, ERP, CRM). • Chairing the Architectural Board for major initiatives like digital transformation, customer personalisation, and in-store tech upgrades. • Leading both in-house and outsourced software development teams responsible for e-commerce platforms, ERP, integrations, mobile apps, and internal tools. • Overseeing DevOps and DevSecOps practices, ensuring they are embedded, high quality and delivered on-time, aligning with user needs. • Overseeing enterprise data strategy, including governance, architecture, quality, and compliance • Ensuring effective data analytics, business intelligence, and reporting capabilities to support retail operations (e.g., inventory, customer insights). • Ensuring high availability, performance, and scalability of IT infrastructure (cloud, on-prem, hybrid). • Leading service management using ITIL processes: Incident, Problem, Change, Configuration, Service Request, and Service Level Management. • Overseeing strategic vendor relationships (cloud providers, software vendors, systems integrators, managed service providers). The skills you'll be sharing with the team: • Previous experience in enterprise-level technology leadership, in a similar retail business, including delivery oversight, technical governance and stakeholder engagement • Experienced in leading high-performing cross-functional technology teams and developing leadership talent • Degree (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Information Technology etc. • Proven strategic leadership experience, developing and executing technology and data strategies aligned with business objectives and influencing board-level decisions • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; able to engage effectively with both technical teams and non-technical stakeholders • A commercial thinker, able to balance the competitive landscape with innovation and ROI • Experience in leading digital transformation and innovation in a fast-paced customer-centric environment • An in-depth understanding of retail technology platforms and systems (ERP, CRM, eCommerce, WMS) with the ability to develop and execute short and long-term technology roadmaps that align with broader business strategies • Understanding of modern solution architectures, including cloud-native (Azure), microservices, APIs, data integration, and security-by-design principles. • Strong grasp of modern DevOps practices and ITIL • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills Why we hope you’ll love working with us: The success of Seasalt is down to the skill and hard work of our team.
