Choosing Keeping is an independent stationery shop in Covent Garden. Since 2012, we’ve been gathering pens, papers, and art materials from small makers around the world, chosen for their quality and story. Behind the scenes, our work is about care and precision: keeping stock organised, orders accurate, and everything moving smoothly between our shop and our customers. Job Title: E-Commerce & Inventory Team Leader (4-Day or 5 Day Weekly, Salaried) Reports to: Logistics Manager and E-Commerce Manager Location: Battersea Area (a few minutes from Battersea Power Station Tube) Pay Rate: £16.50 per hour (≈ £35,498 annual equivalent on a 41.25 hr week) Availability: Usually Monday – Friday, 8am - 5pm. Except in peak season when shifts may span across weekends and include late shifts. Shifts include a 45-minute unpaid lunch break and a 10-minute paid afternoon tea break. Minimum 4 days per week. About the Role As the E-Commerce & Inventory Team Leader, you act as the bridge between assistants and managers, supporting both Logistics Manager and E-Commerce Manager. You oversee the flow of stock and orders, ensuring accurate fulfilment and smooth logistics. This role combines hands-on work with leadership, mentoring, and operational problem-solving — particularly during busy trading periods such as Christmas. Key Responsibilities 1. E-Commerce & Order Fulfilment • Oversee accurate order picking, ensuring items match descriptions. • Ensure discrepancies are documented and reported. • Supervise secure, well-presented packing in line with Choosing Keeping style. • Oversee DHL label processing, maintaining proper checks and controls. • Monitor the e-commerce inbox workflow, delegating enquiries as needed. • Identify upselling opportunities within the e-commerce framework. 1. Inventory & Logistics Oversight • Supervise unpacking, counting, and documenting of incoming deliveries. • Coordinate and monitor routine stock counts and spot checks. • Maintain stockroom order, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards. • Oversee and assist with stock transfers between shop locations and the stockroom. • Help plot incoming and outgoing shipments into schedules to avoid bottlenecks. • Troubleshoot transport or courier issues, escalating when necessary. • Carry out ad hoc key-holding responsibilities when required. • Prepare end-of-day notes for managers, summarising progress, shipments, and issues. 1. Team Leadership & Problem-Solving • Delegate tasks to assistants to balance workload between e-commerce and inventory. • Provide mentoring and coaching, ensuring team members are accurate and efficient. • Engage in problem resolution, including software or system irregularities. • Take ownership of resolving operational challenges calmly and systematically. • Ensure health & safety protocols are understood and followed by the team. • Support peak trading periods (e.g. Christmas), maintaining organisation during high-volume workloads. About You • Previous experience in stockroom, logistics, or e-commerce operations. • Strong leadership and initiative, with a collaborative team approach. • Methodical, detail-oriented, and disciplined in approach. • Interested in problem resolution and willing to troubleshoot software or operational irregularities. • Organised, efficient, and capable of coping with sustained high workloads (e.g. seasonal peaks). • Physically capable of carrying boxes and working safely at height. • Able to understand and follow shop systems, engaging with procedures and ensuring others do the same. • Comfortable taking responsibility and ensuring workflows run smoothly. • A collaborative leader, encouraging teamwork and supporting colleagues during high-volume periods. • Clear communicator, able to cascade instructions and priorities from managers.
