KJS Consulting is leading the search for a strategic and creative Freelance Email Marketing Specialist on behalf of a premium skincare brand that’s redefining science-backed beauty through elevated, high-performing digital experiences. West Coast & SoCal strongly preferred. Job Summary: The Freelance Email Marketing Specialist supports the execution and growth of KaramMD’s email and SMS marketing campaigns. Working closely with the Senior Marketing Manager, this role is responsible for writing, designing, segmenting, building, and optimizing high-performing, brand-aligned emails that drive retention, boost engagement, and support overall business goals. This is a full-stack, executional and strategic role for someone who is fully fluent in Klaviyo, understands the full lifecycle of a high-growth email program, and is capable of refining strategy through performance insights. The ideal candidate is equal parts creative and analytical—with proven skills in copywriting, email design, segmentation and automation strategy, and KPI-driven optimization. Key Responsibilities Campaign Execution • Write, design, build, QA, and schedule weekly email and SMS campaigns in Klaviyo based on content calendar and campaign briefs. • Implement segmentation and personalization strategies to target customers at various stages of the lifecycle. • Strategize and build personalized flows and automation campaigns across the customer lifecycle for both email and SMS, that support brand storytelling, educational content, and clear CTA-driven strategy to drive growth and revenue Copywriting & Visual Alignment • Write clear, compelling, conversion-focused copy that reflects the KaramMD brand voice across promotional, educational, and transactional campaigns. • Understanding of graphic design and visual layout, building emails within Figma that align with the elevated look and feel of the Brand standards • Collaborate on layout and design direction; select imagery and format content using visual best practices and brand guidelines. • Maintain consistency across campaigns, flows, and transactional messaging. Performance Optimization • Conduct A/B tests on subject lines, content blocks, design elements, copy, CTAs, layout and send times to boost key KPIs • Track and report on key performance metrics (open rate, CTR, conversions, unsubscribes), and suggest improvements based on insights. • Optimize segmentation and engagement over time through continual testing and iteration. • Monitor deliverability by managing sender reputation, suppressions, list hygiene, and engagement-based targeting. • Manage benchmarks and continuously iterate on both campaign and flow performance Collaboration & Brand Alignment • Take creative and strategic direction from the Senior Marketing Manager, contributing ideas and feedback during content planning sessions. • Develop lifecycle marketing strategies, such as dynamic content, predictive segments, conditional logic, and audience filters in Klaviyo to improve targeting, message relevance, and grow subscriber engagement, loyalty, and LTV. • Stay up to date on KaramMD product launches, promotions, and messaging priorities to ensure email content supports broader brand initiatives. • Continuously refine segmentation models based on behavioral, demographic, and transactional data Required Skills & Tools • Email Marketing Platform: Deep expertise in Klaviyo required (both email and SMS, flows, campaigns, dynamic blocks, A/B testing, analytics, segmentation). • Copywriting: Ability to craft brand-aligned, persuasive marketing and lifecycle messaging. • Design: Familiarity with Figma or email builders; understanding of mobile-first email UX, hierarchy, and visual storytelling. • Analytics: Strong grasp of Klaviyo analytics dashboard, Google Analytics, and key email/SMS KPIs. • CRM + List Management: Experience managing large lists, suppressions, engagement tiers, and deliverability best practices. • Project Management: Ability to manage deadlines, track multiple campaigns simultaneously, and meet fast-moving timelines. • Communication: Responsive, organized, and collaborative—comfortable working in a remote environment. Experience Requirements • 2–4+ years of experience managing end-to-end email marketing in Klaviyo for e-commerce or DTC brands • Portfolio of high-performing email flows, A/B test outcomes, and campaigns (please include samples) • Strong grasp of lifecycle marketing, list segmentation, and SMS marketing strategy • Experience aligning copy/design with brand voice and performance goals • Ability to report on results, translate data into strategy, and make fast, informed decisions
