About Us
We’re a fast-growing, product-focused e-commerce business investing heavily in data to power smarter decisions across the company. With data becoming a core enabler for everything from product development to marketing performance, we’re looking for a Lead Analytics Engineer to take the reins of our modern data platform and lead the next phase of our analytics maturity.
Role Overview
This is a senior, strategic role for someone who enjoys balancing technical execution with team leadership. You’ll be responsible for shaping our data architecture, managing a small but growing team of analytics engineers, and working closely with stakeholders across the business to ensure data is accurate, actionable, and accessible at scale.
Key Responsibilities
• Data Platform Strategy: Define and maintain the long-term roadmap for our analytics engineering infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and tooling standards.
• Pipeline Development: Architect and maintain high-performance data pipelines using dbt and Snowflake, optimised for scale, cost, and usability.
• Team Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of analytics engineers. Conduct code reviews, set technical objectives, and promote engineering best practices.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with teams across Product, Marketing, and Analytics to prioritise and deliver on key data initiatives.
• BI & Data Accessibility: Drive the adoption and governance of ThoughtSpot (and other BI tools), ensuring users can confidently self-serve data.
• Data Governance: Own systems for monitoring, testing, and validation to maintain trust in the data and catch issues early.
• Cloud Infrastructure: Leverage AWS services (S3, Glue, Lambda, etc.) and Python scripting to orchestrate and automate data workflows.
• Innovation & Improvement: Continually explore and implement tools and processes that improve scalability, developer productivity, and data usability.
What You Bring
• Relevant Experience: 4+ years in analytics or data engineering, ideally with exposure to e-commerce or digital product environments.
• Technical Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with Snowflake and dbt. Strong SQL skills and experience optimising complex transformations.
• Programming Proficiency: Comfortable with Python for automation, integration, and data orchestration.
• Cloud Savvy: Solid understanding of modern cloud data infrastructure, especially within AWS.
• Team Leadership: Experience mentoring and managing engineers in a fast-paced environment.
• Communication Skills: Able to clearly communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• BI Familiarity: Comfortable working with tools like ThoughtSpot, Looker, or Tableau and supporting a self-service analytics culture.
• Process Orientation: You value strong documentation, scalable solutions, and consistent engineering standards.
What We Offer
• A fully remote position within the UK with flexible hours
• The opportunity to lead and shape the data function of a growing, data-driven company
• A salary of £80,000-£90,000 depending on experience
• Supportive, fast-paced team environment with plenty of room for growth
