Role description
Who We Are
We are an organisation that exists to drive progress. That's the “red thread” that connects everyone at The Economist Group (TEG). Our businesses share a devotion to innovation, independence and rigour in their fields of expertise. We empower people to understand and tackle the critical challenges and changes facing the world. Our analytical rigour, global expertise and evidence-based insights enable individuals and organisations to make sense of these shifts and chart a course through them.
We deliver analysis and insights in many formats to subscribers and clients in 170 countries through our four businesses, The Economist, Economist Impact, Economist Intelligence and Economist Education, which uphold our global reputation for excellence and integrity.
Role Overview
We are looking for a highly analytical and detail-oriented Manager, Trading to support subscription performance reporting, analysis, and insight generation. Reporting to the VP, Trading, this role plays a key part in ensuring our marketing and commercial teams have timely, accurate performance data and understand the story behind the numbers.
You will support the development of reports, dashboards, and insights across our global subscription marketing performance—tracking acquisition trends, channel efficiency, campaign impact, and regional performance. You will also contribute to analysis that informs commercial target-setting, performance forecasting, and media efficiency.
This is not a campaign execution role. Instead, you will work closely with the Trading, Growth Marketing, Finance, and Data teams to surface opportunities, assess performance risks, and improve reporting tools. It’s an ideal role for someone with strong technical and analytical skills who is eager to work in a high-impact, insight-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Performance Reporting & Analysis
• Build and maintain accurate, timely performance reports and dashboards across markets, channels, and products
• Support weekly and monthly business reviews by preparing data sets, summaries, and insights for senior audiences
• Monitor trends in acquisition, conversion, and media efficiency; flag opportunities or risks as they emerge
• Contribute to ad hoc analysis to support business decisions, campaign retrospectives, and growth planning
Data Collaboration & Insight Generation
• Work closely with the VP, Trading and Data teams to validate performance data and surface actionable insights
• Collaborate with the Growth Marketing and Brand Marketing teams to understand what’s working—and why
• Assist in the development of benchmark metrics and internal performance targets
Tools & Infrastructure Support
• Partner with the Data, Finance, and Growth Marketing teams to evolve dashboards and performance tools
• Ensure consistency and accuracy across reporting systems, working to improve automation and usability
• Support testing analysis and CRO insights in collaboration with the Testing & Optimisation Manager
Experience And Skills
• Extensive experience in marketing analytics, performance reporting, or commercial analysis—preferably in a subscription, ecommerce, or digital media business
• Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills; experience with BI tools like Tableau, Looker, or Power BI
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and distill clear, actionable insights
• Highly detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement
• Effective communicator—able to explain performance drivers to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, data-driven environment
The expected base salary for this position ranges from $37,500.00 - $73,500.00. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Rather, salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
