Role description
Company Mission and Overview Heartland Card Games's mission is to modernize and honor classic card games. We believe card games are both a refuge from and a reflection of the real world, because skill, strategy, and luck come together to create meaningful connections. The company is creating a direct-to-consumer offering that provides game-specific playing card decks with concise rule cards and bundle-able strategy guides for five culturally significant card games: Euchre, Gin, Hearts, Bid Whist, and Spades. We serve hobbyists, collectors, strategists, and newcomers who are underserved by generic products and inconsistent resources. Project Overview Heartland Card Games is preparing to soft-launch its first e-commerce website by March 2026. At that point, the site will showcase its debut product line. However, the goal of this mini-phase is to ensure the site is fully branded, mobile-optimized, SEO-ready, and capable of capturing high-quality leads before final deck designs and inventory arrives. This means implementing a seamless email capture funnel, establishing analytics tracking, optimizing UX for conversion, and ensuring all messaging aligns with an โ€œaccessible premiumโ€ brand positioning. Job Description The Marketing Specialist will be the lead implementer for all technical and strategic marketing elements of the pre-launch site. This role is collaborative. You'll work alongside the Founder & CEO and the Creative Generalist to ensure the websiteโ€™s marketing functions are built to scale into the soft launch and beyond. Key Responsibilities Include: Integrate Klaviyo with Shopify and build branded embedded sign-up forms. Create automated workflows for double opt-in, welcome email, and pre-sale campaigns. Review site navigation, CTAs, and content flow for conversion readiness. Optimize copy, meta titles/descriptions, and image alt text for target keywords. Set up and test GA4 and Facebook Pixel tracking. Create a branded, functional 404 page with redirect options. Qualifications: Experience with Shopify, Klaviyo, GA4, and Meta Pixel. Strong understanding of e-commerce UX and conversion funnels. SEO copywriting and keyword optimization skills. Ability to collaborate with creative and leadership teams. Engagement Expectations (Negotiable and Subject to Change) Pay and Time Commitment: $35/hour for approximately 17 hours of work Work Location: Remote (preferably in the American Midwest) Work begins the first week of September.
