Role description
As the Marketplace Seller Acquisition and Onboarding director, you’ll play a crucial role in expanding Best Buy’s Marketplace by leading the team focused on identifying new opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and onboarding sellers to achieve the marketplace revenue goals. We are looking for a seasoned leader with excellent communication and negotiation skills and robust knowledge of how to develop and manage a best-in-class sales organization. As part of the marketplace leadership team, this Director will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders across the company and leading all aspects of the Seller Acquisition and Onboarding.
This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield, Minnesota, and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. What You’ll Do
• Lead, mentor, and set the strategy for the seller acquisition and onboarding team, tasked with identifying, recruiting and efficiently onboarding new high-value sellers that align with Best Buy’s marketplace category strategy.
• Oversee strategic roadmap across sales and onboarding journey to help improve both the seller and the Best Buy employee experience.
• Set vision and develop structure for seller acquisition (pipeline management, lead generation, sales operations) in a fairly immature environment.
• Develop effective sales materials/programs helping to clearly highlight the Best Buy marketplace value proposition for sellers and enabling all seller acquisition associates to deliver a clear, articulate and effective pitch to attract sellers.
• Collaborate with Go-To-Market lead on relevant business development events (ex, tradeshows, CES, etc) & partnerships, providing opportunities for Best Buy to drive awareness of marketplace benefits and efficiently connect with large numbers of high-value sellers.
• Establish KPI’s and detailed measurement plans for onboarding team ensuring teams have clearly defined goals to help achieve desired marketplace outcomes and consistently reporting on progress to senior leadership.
• Partner cross-functionally with Technology, 3rd party providers (Mirakl), and eCommerce Operational teams to simplify seller onboarding and increasing speed to market on Best Buy.com.
• Forge partnerships across Marketplace ecosystem (ex. Integrators, content enrichment, etc) that help accelerate our goals and objectives.
Basic Qualifications
• 10 years of experience in Business Development, Business Management or a related area
• 5 years of experience with online marketplaces, e-commerce, or other digitally focused areas
• 3 years of managing cross-functional teams
• 2 years of people management experience
• Experience developing an end-to-end strategic vision
Preferred Qualifications
• 12 with online marketplaces, e-commerce, or other digitally focused areas
• 6 years of people leadership experience
• 2 years of complex vendor/seller management contract negotiation
• Proficient financial forecasting and planning experience
• Proficient analytical capabilities leveraging tools such as PowerBI, Tableau, etc.
• Demonstrated success in developing and managing a sales pipeline, with understanding of Seller success goals/metrics.
• Experience with Salesforce CRM and leveraging within a highly effective sales organization
• Familiarity with Mirakl marketplace platform
