Role description
The Role:
The Merchandise Manager oversees product selection, purchasing, pricing, and strategies for Design Lighting, analyzes market trends, manages vendor relationships, and collaborates with marketing and inventory teams to maximize profitability and meet customer demand.
Responsibilities:
Vendor Recruiting and Management
β’ Recruit, lead negotiation process and onboard new vendors to meet weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly financial plans
β’ Monitor Vendor brand performance and re-negotiate Contract terms as needed (Discounts, allowances, rebates and Co-Op $)
β’ Monitor financial performance to grow revenue and improve vendor performance β inclusive of marketing and inventory management recommendations β to meet or exceed sales and margin targets
β’ Negotiate vendor participation in promotional events and any other marketing channels as needed.
β’ Delivery on the brands and category monthly, quarterly and annual priorities
Product Assortment and Management
β’ Develop compelling assortment that are up-to-date, brand-aligned, and well curated for assigned product categories
β’ Analyze and drive business on a weekly, monthly and quarterly basis to meet and exceed plans for assigned product categories
β’ Drive and optimize inventory investments and liabilities with Planning team
β’ Drive the creation of accurate and helpful product content and educate product content team on product category and merchandising best practices
β’ Coordinate and inform other functions of vendor and product assortment updates
Marketing and Website Experience
β’ Support marketing of owned categories by developing and driving optimized execution of marketing promotional calendar + events
β’ Partner with Marketing to build engaging homepage and promotional/events landing pages
β’ Collaborate on site presentation and user experience design decisions to offer engaging and high converting site experience
β’ Maintain knowledge of customers, competitors, partners and industry. Conduct regular competitive analysis to identify threats and opportunities to maintain leadership
β’ Lead projects to improve our content management and merchandising processes and tools
Qualifications:
β’ 3+ years of merchandising experience in an e-commerce or multi-channel specialty retailer.
β’ Internet & rapidly growing environment experience a plus.
β’ 2 to 3 yearsβ experience in vendor management
β’ 1 to 2 yearsβ experience in leading team to meet strategic and financial targets
β’ Experience planning, assigning and prioritizing time-sensitive projects
β’ Proven record of meeting or exceeding financial plans

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000 + bonus
