Job Description
About The Team
At Etsy, we’re building a future that reimagines commerce in ways that are more personal, meaningful, and community-driven—and our merchandising team helps bring that vision to life every day. As a Programs Specialist, you’ll support the growth of Merchandising Programs by executing merchandising experiences and helping surface insights that inform smart, buyer-led strategies. Join our growing team within the Marketing Org, where your contributions will make a big impact and positive difference in real people's lives.
This role sites on the Merchandising Programs team within the larger Global Merchandising group.
About The Role
As Merchandising Programs Specialist (Buyer), you will support the execution of merchandising programs across Etsy’s global surfaces. These programs span the full spectrum of production—from scaled, personalized content driven by dynamic tools and algotorial inputs to high-touch curated content, and are designed around customer intent, marketplace events, and brand storytelling.
You will execute and maintain content that supports the strategic direction of our merchandising calendar, helping to ensure that programs are tailored to buyer intent, meet business goals, reflect Etsy's brand, and show up in ways that feel fresh and locally relevant. You’ll partner with others to support teams across Marketing, Product, Brand, Research, and Seller Engagement to bring these programs to life.
Responsibilities include:
• Execute on assigned merchandising programs that power freshness, seasonal retail moments, cultural initiatives, and promotional events across Etsy. These programs can range from time-bound marketing-led storytelling moments (Ex: Cyber, Mother’s Day Gifts) to recurring, structured, and cross-category assortments tied to customer intent (Ex: New Arrivals, Best Sellers).
• Execute and maintain all associated merchandising content (e.g., landing pages, stash collections, MSRs) ensuring it aligns with the unique attributes and seasonality of each category/program.
• Identify and activate growth opportunities by uncovering emerging trends, buyer needs, and assortment gaps, then translate insights into actionable initiatives that demonstrate business and customer understanding
• Measure and report on global merchandising performance through clear reporting and testing frameworks, asking questions to understand the 'why' behind data for continuous learning
• Scale programs through personalization, algorithmic surfacing, and modular content frameworks while developing new tools, workflows, and templates with cross-functional teams
• Partner with Brand Marketing, Product, and Creative teams to align programs with Etsy's brand positioning and enhance cross-functional relationships
• Apply domain expertise to support projects and serve as a resource within the merchandising function while considering various approaches and perspectives to address business and customer needs
• Identify and act on ways to keep work moving forward despite obstacles
Requirements
•
• 2+ years of experience in merchandising, campaign planning, brand activation, or e-commerce content support.
• You complete assigned work in a reliable and autonomous way.
• Familiarity with program execution for retail and cultural moments, with a creative and supportive approach to building buyer-centric programs.
• Strong operational and executional rigor – you are comfortable completing assigned programs and effectively manage your time. Understand your capacity, the urgency of your work, and the complexity of a task, and adjust accordingly to deliver on expectations, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of your work.
• Familiarity with personalization, dynamic content systems, and merchandising at scale, with experience supporting related initiatives.
Nice-to-Haves
•
• Collaborative and communicative, skilled at partnering with others and navigating cross-functional priorities to reach solutions. You understand how your actions affect others and use that insight to act in an inclusive manner that builds trust.
• A champion for diverse, inclusive storytelling that reflects Etsy’s global community of buyers and sellers.
• Regularly communicate to keep others informed about your work.
• Excited to help shape the future of merchandising at Etsy—bringing strategy, empathy, and imagination to everything you do.
• Committed to continuous improvement, actively seeking out learning opportunities and feedback to enhance your skills and work quality. You understand the skills, tools, and processes most relevant to your domain such that with minimal direction you deliver quality work.
Details/Notes
• This role will support the team while an admin is on leave
• This role is open to all work modes (remote/flex/onsite) This role may extend, depending on the needs of the team, budget availability, and contractor performance
• Familiarity with content management tools is a plus
