Our client is one of the world’s largest and most influential apparel retailers, managing a portfolio of globally recognized brands. With full control over the product lifecycle—from design and manufacturing to retail—they are actively executing a company-wide digital transformation initiative aimed at reshaping how global operations are managed and optimized through technology.
📍 Location:
• New York City (Hybrid): On-site presence required 3 days per week
• Evening Collaboration: Remote meetings with global teams (primarily Japan) from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM EST at least 2-3 evenings per week. Flexible work hours are provided to support this global collaboration.
About the Role
The Merchandising Project Specialist/Manager, Digital Transformation will be instrumental in this effort, working closely with merchandising and marketing teams to identify and resolve business challenges, define system requirements, and implement process improvements that drive measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
• Partner with U.S. merchandising and marketing teams to identify business challenges, lead discussions, and define both business and system requirements.
• Serve as the key liaison with overseas system development teams, translating business needs into technical specifications and ensuring alignment through each stage of development.
• Document and analyze current business processes, identify inefficiencies, and define optimized future-state processes and required system enhancements.
• Lead the development of budget proposals for new system functions, including cost estimation and presentation to executive stakeholders (Global CEO, CFO, Business & IT leadership).
• Oversee training and user adoption of newly developed system features, ensuring successful implementation and realization of business goals.
• Drive measurable business outcomes, such as improving the accuracy of seasonal sales and marketing plans, by streamlining access to product information across global teams.
• Ensure key merchandising data is centralized, visualized, and available on the merchandising platform in a timely and accurate manner through coordination with global HQ stakeholders.
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in business process improvement, including issue identification, resolution planning, and business/system requirement documentation.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in the retail industry.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and navigate culturally diverse, global work environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience implementing merchandising systems or similar enterprise tools.
• Familiarity with product development and marketing processes within the fashion or apparel industry.
