TITLE: NLP Search Engineer LOCATION: Remote (Portland, OR HQ – hybrid or onsite optional) PAY: Target pay for this role is $75–95 per hour or $150–185K salary (DOE); direct-hire includes equity ENGAGEMENT TYPE: Direct Hire or Contract-to-Hire What You’ll Be Doing As an NLP Search Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of company's mission to create intelligent, intuitive search experiences that help users discover their perfect vacation. You’ll design and deploy advanced semantic search systems using vector databases and LLMs, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to evolve product taxonomy and metadata strategies. Your work will directly impact search relevance, personalization, and conversion across a growing eCommerce platform. Key Responsibilities Include • Building semantic search and ranking algorithms • Implementing NLP techniques like query rewriting, entity extraction, and intent detection • Integrating and managing vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS) • Applying large language models (LLMs) to enrich search experiences • Collaborating with engineering, data, product, and UX teams Who We’re Looking For You’re a builder at heart—fluent in NLP, deeply experienced with semantic search, and comfortable taking models from research to production. You know your way around Python, vector databases, and modern NLP frameworks like Hugging Face or spaCy. You’re product-focused, fast-moving, and excited to shape the future of vacation discovery.
