About The Team
The Brand Marketing team helps buyers discover what makes Etsy special, fueling Etsy’s growth via audience-centric storytelling and media placements, bringing the right message to the right audience, at the right moment. We collaborate closely together with partner teams such as Analytics, Product, and Engineering in order to optimize global offsite experiences and automate programs at scale.
About The Role
Etsy is looking for a Director, Paid Social & Display Strategy to cover a parental leave from October 2025 – April 2026. You’ll guide a talented team across paid social, video, and display — building audience led, full-funnel campaigns that drive awareness, inspire consideration, and deliver incremental return for the business.
Success in this role means balancing creative storytelling with data-driven decisions through best-in-class strategies, measurement, and creative execution. The ideal candidate will have proven experience leading full-funnel integrated paid social and display programs that unlock growth and brand affinity while maintaining strong accountability to measurable results. With the ultimate goal of providing the best experience for our customers, having a background working with product and engineering partners, specifically across DTC, e-commerce or marketplace verticals are of additional benefit. This person will bring expertise in leading both internal and external media teams, with an emphasis on social-first creative, experimentation, and optimization across platforms such as Meta, TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube/Google.
This is a full-time, 6-month contractor position reporting to the Senior Director, Brand Marketing. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered.
Responsibilities
• Lead a large scale team across Paid Social and Display channels, spearheading audience led, full-funnel strategy in partnership with Brand Marketing and cross-functional peers.
• Drive full-funnel outcomes, from awareness to ROI, using advanced measurement tools, including MMM, MTA & Brand Lift Studies.
• Oversee campaign development and optimization, with a focus on video and social-first storytelling across various platforms, including Meta, TikTok, YouTube and Pinterest.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure integrated, buyer-first strategies, including Analytics, Product, Eng, Merchandising, Research, and more.
• Stay on top of emerging platforms, formats, and trends to keep Etsy ahead of the curve.
Requirements
• 10+ years in paid social and display marketing, ideally across retail, DTC, or marketplaces.
• Proven leadership managing large teams and agency partners.
• Expertise in creative development and testing for social and display platforms.
• Strong grasp and previous use of key measurement frameworks (MTA, MMM, Brand Lift).
• Experience managing large budgets across channels with a full-funnel approach.
• Collaborative, curious, and passionate about blending creative with performance.
