Summary:
The Production Designer is responsible for executing packaging artwork and production-ready assets that maintain brand integrity, consistency, and compliance with established guidelines. Approximately 80% of this role is focused on production—packaging mechanicals, artwork adaptation, and digital asset execution—while 20% involves supporting conceptual design development alongside the creative team. The Production Designer primarily works on packaging and print production but also contributes to digital production needs across campaigns and marketing channels. They are also responsible for managing digital assets and routing production artwork through the proper review, approval, and release processes. The Production Designer collaborates closely with Art Directors, Designers, and cross-functional partners to adapt creative concepts into accurate final deliverables. This role requires a detail-oriented, highly organized individual who can prepare files for flawless production while proactively communicating with team leaders to keep projects on brand, on time, and within technical requirements.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Execute production-ready packaging artwork, ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and consistency with brand standards.
• Product production including proofing, art changes, componentry, IFC typography and layout.
• Adapt existing creative designs into final mechanicals for packaging, print collateral, and retail displays.
• Maintain organized, detailed project files within designated brand and regulatory parameters.
• Route production artwork through established review, approval, and release processes to ensure accuracy and compliance before final delivery.
• Build and prepare mock-ups, proofs, and renderings for review.
• Prepare and pre-flight files for press, following printer/vendor specifications.
• Digital marketing production design for campaign assets, including e-commerce and direct-to-consumer channels.
• Adapt existing creative designs into digital formats while maintaining brand integrity.
• Stay informed on digital production standards, industry trends, and best practices.
• Design support for lower-level creative projects, such as catalogs and internal sales materials.
• Asset management and routing utilizing Bynder, ensuring proper file versioning, organization, and accessibility for the team.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Marketing, Product, and Regulatory—to ensure accuracy and compliance of all production files.
• Potential for image retouching.
• Conduct research to inform production solutions and material options.
• Provide positive, solutions-focused support as workflow dictates.
• Maintain global brand consistency across packaging, print, and digital deliverables.
Required Skills:
• 2+ years of relevant experience in production design, with an emphasis on packaging and print.
• Strong understanding of packaging artwork development, mechanical builds, and regulatory labeling requirements.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Photoshop.
• Familiarity with digital production for web, email, and social media assets.
• Experience in proofing, pre-flighting, preparing, and press-checking files for production.
• Strong knowledge of typography, color theory, layout, and composition fundamentals.
• Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
