Position Description
As one of the early members of the retention team, the Retention Marketing Lead will drive all of our lifecycle and retention marketing efforts. They will lead the charge on developing and executing lifecycle initiatives that cater to different stages of the customer journey, ensuring seamless transitions and continued brand affinity.
We're seeking someone who is ready to take on a challenging, collaborative and hands-on role, and who is looking to make a significant impact from day one. They will get access to a network of industry experts for thought leadership and mentorship and work closely with the entire growth team. Collaboration truly is at the foundation of what we do here and will be key to the success of the role.
At Receptive, Lifecycle Marketing is one of the key pillars in driving customer retention. Our ideal candidate is someone who is obsessed with the customer journey, and is able to think outside of the box to level up our strategy in communicating with our customers. Key Responsibilities
• Lifecycle Communications Strategy: Own Receptive’s lifecycle communications strategy (primarily through email and SMS) from end-to-end: encompassing ideation, creative development, deployment, and performance analysis. You’ll convert new users to first orders and continually engage and retain them throughout their lifecycle.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the other members of the growth team on initiatives that drive incremental customer LTV. Align lifecycle marketing efforts with broader business objectives by collaborating with internal teams, including Customer Success, Growth, Ops, and Engineering.
• Performance Optimization: Create and maintain a testing roadmap, regularly sharing clear performance/test results, best practices, and key learnings with stakeholders. Continuously optimize campaign performance based on key metrics and insights.
• Marketing Automation: Utilize marketing automation tools to develop transactional, promotional, and informational content strategies to maximize customer acquisition and retention.
• Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze email and SMS performance metrics and automated marketing programs to inform strategy changes.
• Expertise Development: Become the expert in Receptive’s email + SMS programs, customer journey, customer experience, and CRM platforms.
• Be a champion for the Receptive Brand: Exercise creativity and autonomy in content creation. You’ll create engaging copy and content that aligns with our brand values and resonates with our audience, to ensure our brand is accurately portrayed across all communication mediums.
• Industry Knowledge: Stay up-to-date on CRM trends, best practices, and new technologies to ensure Receptive remains at the forefront of lifecycle marketing innovation.
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
• 3-5 years of Lifecycle/Retention experience focused on customer retention within the subscription space, preferably within e-commerce or DTC.
• Hands-on experience creating automated journeys using marketing automation platforms (e.g., Active Campaign, Klaviyo, Iterable) through email and SMS channels.
• Hands-on experience launching A/B tests and communicating results, ensuring statistical significance.
• Expertise in leveraging triggers and rule-based dynamic logic for automated email campaigns.
• Proven track record in developing campaigns that drive customer retention, loyalty, and reactivation.
• Strong understanding of the customer lifecycle journey and experience in audience segmentation and personalization using customer data.
• Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for data analysis and reporting.
• Bonus: Confidence in analyzing data in Python or other tools to complete statistical modeling.
• Bonus: Familiarity with HTML & CSS as it relates to email, experience with loyalty programs, referral marketing, customer engagement tools, and product management.
• A well-rounded and experienced Lifecycle Marketer with a proven track record in driving incremental revenue through lifecycle marketing.
• Experience in subscription management, monitoring and reducing churn, and completing accurate cohort analysis.
• Obsessed with the customer journey and passionate about email and SMS marketing.
