Job Description Location: New York, NY Senior Commerce Director, Glamour The Commerce Director, Glamour is a key managerial role in the Consumer Marketing organization, reporting to the VP of Commerce. The Commerce Director will be responsible for developing the overarching commerce strategy for Glamour,style, beauty, wellness and lifestyle to meet our ambitious growth targets. The role will lead a dedicated team of writers, editors, and producers, with an extensive cross-functional network including editorial, product marketing, and data analytics to deliver against revenue and profit objectives. Primary Responsibilities • Business owner for Commerce Revenue across the Glamour vertical • Devise and execute long-range planning for the Glamour and deliver growth strategies for the next five years, execute these strategies, and monitor progress. • Continue to evaluate how our current strategies align with evolving market conditions. Benchmark our brands vs competitors and other proxy brands in the market • Work closely with commercial teams (cross functional) to identify broader strategic partnership opportunities to improve revenue per page and support commercial sales pitches that can optimize commerce. • Propose new ideas to scale our data, analytics, and product functions to optimize commerce revenue for Glamour brands. • Problem Solving & Insights: Synthesizes broad findings into insights that inform content strategy and monetization on complex issues, leveraging executive presence to influence decisions and proactively driving solutions to high-impact strategies • Direct Revenue Strategy: Build and execute strategy to drive audience directly to shop Glamour.com by building a compelling value proposition for shopping and repeat audience monetization. • Managing responsibilities: Bring out the best in their people to achieve their team and organization priorities. As a manager, focus on change management and actions reflect on Conde Nast values. • Develop a commerce proposition that is differentiated within the market, and adds value for the reader, our partners, and the Glamour brand itself • Identify the long-term strategic direction for Glamour brands. Communicate this vision and develop business plans. Deliver growth targets through the implementation of long-term strategic plans, as well as reacting to tactical opportunities and trade performance • Evaluate and recommend e-commerce investments and initiatives and lead the development of business cases and marketing plans • Partner with Data Insights, Product, and Editorial leadership to identify and implement action plans against headwinds and growth opportunities. • Rebuild the merchandise assortment strategy across the shopping channel to support editorial messages and key commercial metrics. • Review category strategy for this division to ensure current trends are capitalized. Build and implement merchandising tools to optimize category mix, brand portfolio, and pricing architecture • Collaborate to maximize all go-to-market Commerce activity including newsletter, social media, paid campaigns, and events • Demonstrate a nuanced and deep understanding of the product recommendation ecosystem in Search, Social, Newsletter, and Video • Develop a deep understanding of the target audience and define best practices to reach and engage with them • Total ownership, accountability, management and oversight of editorial content production, editorial strategies, product testing, and overall editorial voice, tone, quality of the performance marketing content on Glamour • Strategize, plan, and ensure timely execution of weekly, seasonal, and tentpole content calendar that leverages SEO opportunities and business insights • Synthesize purchasing data, consumer trends, and competitive analysis to make informed, strategic editorial decisions that drive key Commerce KPIs and revenue growth. Collect and analyze audience analytics to make data-informed content decisions. • Works closely and collaboratively with editorial, advertising, engineering, video, and design teams and pushing forward commerce initiatives to top priority. Ability to size business opportunities and clearly articulate impact to teams • Identify new opportunities for category growth and assign grow categories to meet revenue goals • Leads and plans requirements for technical projects for improvements to customer experience, new e-commerce features, and offerings • Profit management including revenue and personnel costs • Mentor, educate, and develop staff. • Recommend effective processes and procedures to improve workflow and results. • Other duties as assigned Skills & Qualifications • Best in class execution from ideation to completion” with “Deep understanding of the Glamour and style, beauty wellness, including Editorial, Brands, and Retail • 10+ years' experience in the e-commerce or direct-to-consumer space, preferably in fashion apparel category or multibrand retailer required • Merchandising experience preferred. • Strong understanding of CRM preferred. • Source and onboard both established and emerging high-demand merchants and build strong relationships to continue to grow partnership • Proven vendor and partner relationship management with a commercial viewpoint • Strong experience in ecommerce including ability to propose product improvement opportunities, manage a site audit required. • Experience optimizing an e-commerce business is required • Team management and 5 years of leadership experience is required • Comfortable with revenue forecasting and planning • Experience communicating with and presenting to senior executives, and translating company priorities into actionable goals for teams. • Demonstrated history of fostering and sustaining a diverse and inclusive team; expertise in mentorship and team leadership. • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities. • Knowledge of best-in-class SEO best practices • Ability to size business opportunities and leverage data to influence everyday priorities to meet revenue goals • Experience working in Google Sheets required The expected base salary range for this position is from $150,000-$165,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates may also be eligible to receive discretionary bonus compensation. What happens next?
