Drive Commerce Editorial Excellence In Fashion, Beauty & Celebrity
McClatchy Media’s Lifestyle & Entertainment Group is seeking an experienced Senior Commerce Editor with specific, leadership-level experience in managing affiliate and commerce content teams focused on fashion, beauty, and celebrity coverage. If you have a proven background building and leading commerce editorial operations in these trend-setting verticals, we invite you to join our growing commerce team.
About The Role
As the Senior Commerce Editor for our highly influential Lifestyle & Entertainment division (including Us Weekly and A360 Media brands), you will be the strategic and operational head of all affiliate commerce content on our lifestyle and entertainment digital publications, which focus on fashion, beauty, and celebrity products. This management role leads a diverse team of editors, writers, producers, and freelancers—setting the strategy, standards, and workflow for creating shoppable content that spotlights style trends, beauty launches, and celebrity recommendations from an affiliate perspective.
The anticipated base pay range for this position is between 100k and 125k annually. Individual base pay may vary within that range depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, relevant education, department equity, training, geography, and local wage and hours laws. Variable Pay is available as well.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and Manage: Oversee, grow, and inspire a dedicated commerce editorial team exclusively focused on fashion, beauty, and celebrity content; steward team development and collaborative culture.
• Set Editorial Strategy: Design and execute commerce editorial direction, calendars, and best practices, ensuring fashion/beauty/celebrity content is timely, original, and revenue-driven.
• Content Creation: Along with editing, also write content, contributing on average one premium article per day
• Operational Oversight: Direct all aspects of daily content output, team assignments, evening/weekend publishing needs, and top-quality editing—always with commerce KPIs in mind.
• Innovate & Differentiate: Create new affiliate content formats (deal roundups, single product recommendations, celebrity product guides, retail holiday commerce features) and ensure our coverage stands out in the market.
• Commerce Expertise: Bring an advanced understanding of affiliate networks (Amazon, Rakuten, Impact, etc.), commerce analytics, and retail holiday coverage best practices to maximize revenue and audience engagement.
• Trend Leadership: Be the authority on what’s hot in fashion, beauty, and celebrity culture, constantly analyzing industry trends and translating them into winning editorial strategies.
• Collaboration & Partnership: Work cross-functionally with campaign, revenue, creative, and data insights teams to ensure alignment between commerce editorial and business goals; Where applicable cultivate partnership opportunities with brands in the fashion and beauty spaces.
• Team Development: Mentor and train editors and writers, implementing workflows and goals specifically tailored to commerce performance in fashion, beauty, and celebrity verticals.
What We’re Looking For
• Commerce Editorial Management Experience: 5+ years in a senior editorial management role focused on commerce/affiliate content within fashion, beauty, and/or celebrity media brands. Managerial affiliate content experience is required.
• Proven Track Record: Demonstrated success growing affiliate revenue and building high-performing editorial teams specializing in shoppable content for style and entertainment.
• Expert in Affiliate Strategy: Deep experience with affiliate marketing models, SEO and social media for commerce, and the consumer shopping journey.
• Digital Proficiency: Skilled with content and commerce platforms (WordPress, affiliate tools, analytics) and up to date on leading e-commerce practices.
• Trend Spotter: Instinct for what drives clicks and sales in lifestyle, beauty, and celebrity spheres, and a robust network of industry contacts and partners.
• Strong Leader & Collaborator: Adept at team management, goal-setting, cross-departmental partnership, and motivating creative talent around commerce performance.
Preferred
• Prior roles managing commerce editorial teams at major lifestyle, fashion, beauty, or entertainment publishers
• Hands-on use of commerce analytics tools (e.g., Affilimate, Trackonomics, etc.)
• Experience working with video and creative units to support multimedia commerce content
• Connections with brands/agencies/PR in fashion and beauty or affiliate space
This is a leadership role, reporting to the Senior Director of Commerce, based remotely.
