Senior Commercial Manager

MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a leading FMCG business to recruit a Senior Commercial Manager. This is a permanent role based in Oxfordshire, UK.
The Senior Commercial Manager will own and develop category growth within the Discount, Wholesale, Convenience, Retail, E-commerce, and Pharmacy sectors. Reporting to the Commercial Team Lead, the successful candidate will manage a team of Commercial Managers and Junior Commercial Managers, deliver budgeted sales and profit targets, improve commercial terms, and drive joint business plans with suppliers. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and results-driven commercial leader with the ability to influence and negotiate at all levels.
Key Responsibilities:
β’ Own and manage a defined supplier portfolio/sub-sector, delivering growth through strategic and joint business plan approaches.
β’ Develop and implement a fit-for-purpose growth strategy for customer channels that aligns with supplier and customer objectives.
β’ Lead, mentor, and support Commercial Managers and Junior Commercial Managers within your portfolio.
β’ Ensure clear communication channels across the team and wider business.
β’ Deliver annual budget targets for sales, profit, and supplier terms.
β’ Increase existing business and identify new opportunities.
β’ Negotiate with suppliers to achieve competitive pricing and strong profit margins.
β’ Manage and reduce supplier aged/disputed debt, improving cash flow.
β’ Recover costs associated with residuals, overstocks, and out-of-date stock.
β’ Provide customers with tailored product ranges and promotions using a category management approach.
β’ Build strong supplier partnerships and represent the business at meetings, events, and industry seminars.
β’ Ensure timely delivery of promotional materials, sales aids, and marketing collateral.
β’ Guarantee compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) for medicinal products and medical devices.
What We're Looking For:
β’ Minimum of 3 yearsβ experience in a similar commercial role within FMCG.
β’ Proven ability to negotiate and influence effectively at all levels.
β’ Strong commercial awareness with excellent numerical, analytical, and forecasting skills.
