Role Overview
The Senior Director of Marketing for Bare Necessities will be responsible for leading the development, execution, and optimization of data-driven marketing strategies. This strategic leader will drive brand awareness, customer acquisition, retention, and sales growth by leveraging media, analytics, cross-functional collaboration, and CRM solutions. Partnering closely with Creative, E-Commerce, and Merchandising teams, the Senior Director will ensure the seamless execution of brand and performance focused customer experiences across paid, owned, and earned media channels.
Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the customer acquisition strategies across multiple channels such as paid media, SEO, social media, PR, influencer marketing, etc. ensuring that company sales and profitability targets are achieved.
• Develop and oversee retention campaigns to enhance customer lifetime value (LTV) by improving repeat purchases, engagement, and overall customer experience. Oversee performance of loyalty and promotional campaigns. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of campaigns and adjust tactics accordingly.
• Manage media agenc(ies) for paid media channels and analyses as well as project management, marketing strategy, site content strategy, and creative best practices.
• Own and manage marketing campaign calendar inclusive of seasonal campaigns, tentpole events, product launches and partnerships, promotions and always on strategies. Develop spend plans and forecast revenue impact of marketing activities in support of the business
• Ensure channel planning needs, creative asset requirements, delivery timetables are achieved; manage execution of all initiatives. Manage the content creation budget in partnership with internal and external creative teams
• Maintain accountability for all KPIs, reporting, forecasting and testing for paid media initiatives and proposing changes to improve digital position to senior management. KPI’s include financial metrics such as revenue and marketing spend, as well as operational and channel metrics such as traffic, conversion, ROI, reach/frequency, CPM/CPC etc.
• Partner with Finance and Planning team to forecast demand and expense goals on a monthly basis.
• Maintain accountability for the daily, triggered, and transactional messaging (email, SMS, MMS, RCS) program. Oversee the creation and implementation of the daily Email & SMS calendars working with internal team as well as external ESP vendor. Create test plans for subject lines, creative content, SMS messaging. Report on performance and learnings to educate teams on best practices
• Maintain accountability for marketing platform UTM parameters, e-commerce data layer and key event tracking and data governance for reporting including session, item, checkout, and purchase events and device and source parameters
• Support merchandise and planning teams with merchandise analytics including basket analyses and attributing merchandise sales to marketing campaigns
• Own customer analyses such as new/returning customer quantity, retention rates, and customer value
• Stay up to date with industry trends, new marketing technologies, and emerging channels to ensure the company is leveraging the latest techniques and tools. Manage the marketing budget to ensure efficient allocation of resources across channels.
Requirements
• 12+ years of Marketing experience - DTC retail experience preferred, intimates a plus
• Extensive experience in paid media, SEO, SEM, content marketing, email marketing, and affiliate marketing
• Strong analytical skillset - a deep understanding of marketing analytics and performance metrics - problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Must be proficient in Excel and working knowledge of data visualization/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, Sigma, Looker, etc.)
• Proficiency with Google Marketing tools such as Google Analytics, Google Ads, DV360. Experience with Google Cloud Platform and the GA4 BigQuery export a plus
• Proven track record of accountability managing significant budgets and optimizing marketing spend based on data-driven insights
• Expertise in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies for data analysis. Proven ability to leverage data to inform and drive strategic decisions
• Demonstrated experience in working cross-functionally with E-Commerce, Marketing, and Buying teams to deliver personalized and high-performing customer experiences
• Ability to lead, inspire, and develop high-performing teams while managing complex projects and driving results.
• Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to influence senior leadership and internal stakeholders to drive alignment on strategic initiatives
• Self-motivated, results driven, highly organized, have strong attention to detail
• Ability to work well in high-pressure, fast paced environments
