Role description
Job Summary We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Technology Director to lead the executional and operational delivery of our custom ERP ecosystem, with deep involvement in the integration of e-commerce platforms (primarily Shopify). This is a senior-level technical leadership role that requires strategic oversight of global development resources, infrastructure partners, and local e-commerce admins—anchored by a deep understanding of software architecture and engineering processes. Although coding is not expected, the ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background—including hands-on experience earlier in their career—enabling them to deeply understand developer workflows, accurately scope technical work, and provide grounded evaluations of what is and isn’t possible when building innovative solutions. This role reports directly to the Co-CEOs and is central to transforming our systems into a SaaS-enabled, industry-disruptive platform. Key Responsibilities • Translate business vision into technical execution by operationalizing co-CEO directives through technical planning and global team coordination. • Manage Delhi-based ERP project managers (MariaDB, PHP, Angular) and Pakistan-based Shopify development teams, ensuring smooth execution across codebases and integration points. • Supervise and support 3 local semi-technical Shopify administrators, elevating e-commerce performance, user experience, and uptime along with report writing and analysis. • Scope and estimate new features accurately in collaboration with developers, weighing customer impact, code complexity, and time-to-market. • Institutionalize ERP and platform knowledge to reduce single-point-of-failure risk, with an emphasis on documentation and cross-team alignment. • Partner with our Managed IT provider to ensure high availability, scalability, and security across internal and customer-facing systems. • Serve as a systems-level thinker, capable of evaluating proposed features for feasibility, edge cases, and long-term extensibility. • Monitor KPIs, unblock teams, and create executive-level reporting on platform progress, technical debt, and SaaS-readiness. • Support our mission to "Uberize" the industry with scalable, customer-first innovation. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred). • 10+ years of experience in IT operations, product delivery, or software engineering leadership, including global team oversight. • Strong foundation in software engineering, with demonstrable understanding of systems using MariaDB, PHP, and Angular (or similar frameworks). • Ability to read, critique, and scope technical plans without necessarily needing to write the code. • Experience navigating the challenges of scaling custom ERP systems and transitioning to SaaS models. • Outstanding communication skills and the ability to serve as a technical translator between executives and engineering teams. • Track record of reducing friction, eliminating ambiguity, and accelerating delivery cycles. Preferred Qualifications • Direct experience working with Shopify or similar e-commerce ecosystems. • Familiarity with Managed IT partnerships and cloud infrastructure tools. • Formal training or certification in project management or IT service delivery (e.g., PMP, ITIL). • Exposure to the promotional products industry or other niche, high-transaction verticals. Location & Compensation • In-office in Hoffman Estates, IL • No travel required. • Base compensation target: $180,000+ bonus, depending on experience and alignment with our technical and strategic needs.
