In an era of unprecedented disruption, OX is built to transform. Position Description OX is seeking a contract SEO Strategist to support our growing portfolio of client engagements. As a contract SEO Strategist, you will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive SEO strategies that drive organic growth and support our clients' digital transformation initiatives. You will serve as the SEO subject matter expert across multiple client accounts, conducting technical audits, developing keyword strategies, and ensuring SEO best practices are integrated throughout the entire project lifecycle. Working closely with cross-functional teams including UX, design, development, and content strategy, you will translate complex SEO insights into actionable recommendations that align with business objectives. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with direct client interaction and the ability to present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders. Responsibilities & Duties • Conduct comprehensive SEO audits including technical, content, and competitive assessments to identify opportunities and develop strategic recommendations • Develop keyword research and content strategies that align with client business goals and user intent across B2B and B2C experiences • Create and present SEO strategies, findings, and recommendations directly to client stakeholders and executive teams • Partner with UX and development teams to ensure SEO requirements are properly implemented during site redesigns and replatforms • Assess and mitigate SEO risks during website migrations, consolidations, and digital transformations • Develop URL mapping and redirect strategies to preserve search equity during site transitions • Create and maintain SEO documentation including best practices guides, implementation checklists, and prioritized recommendation roadmaps • Analyze site performance metrics and provide ongoing optimization recommendations to improve organic visibility and traffic • Collaborate with content strategists and writers to ensure keyword strategies are effectively incorporated into page copy and metadata • Stay current with search engine algorithm updates, industry trends, and emerging SEO technologies • Support business development efforts by contributing SEO expertise to proposals and pitch presentations • Other duties as assigned by your manager Required Experience • 5-7 years of hands-on SEO experience in an agency, consulting, or in-house environment • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful SEO strategies for enterprise-level websites • Deep expertise in technical SEO, including crawlability, site architecture, page speed optimization, and mobile-first indexing • Strong analytical skills with experience using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, SEMrush, or similar platforms • Experience conducting SEO audits and translating findings into actionable, prioritized recommendations • Demonstrated ability to present complex SEO concepts to non-technical stakeholders and C-level executives • Experience managing SEO through website redesigns, replatforms, and migrations • Deep understanding of e-commerce SEO challenges including product optimization, faceted navigation, inventory management, and conversion-focused content strategies (strongly preferred) • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple client projects simultaneously • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to create clear, compelling deliverables • Understanding of the relationship between SEO and other digital marketing channels • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced agency environment • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, or related field preferred • Available for contract engagement with flexibility to support multiple concurrent projects Contract Details • Type: Contract Position • Start Date: End of August (exact date TBD) • Hours: 40 hours • Duration: 2-week initial project, with the strong potential for ongoing project work in the following weeks and months Location Chicago / Hybrid
