SEO Strategist Location: Greenville, SC (in-office preferred, but open to remote for the right candidate) Status: Full-Time Compensation: $60K About tiptop tiptop Search + Marketing is a strategy-driven, SEO-first agency on the frontlines of search innovation. We help ambitious brands accelerate organic growth by blending classic SEO, AI/LLM-driven optimization, and our proprietary C.L.A.R.I.T.Y. framework to win in both traditional and generative search (GEO/AIO). Our clients range from eCommerce to SaaS, healthcare, and consumer brands—each with unique challenges that demand sharp, proactive, and data-backed solutions. Role Summary The SEO Strategist will own the SEO strategy for 6–7 primary client accounts and provide strategic support on additional accounts as needed. This role blends high-level strategy development with hands-on analysis, performance monitoring, and client communication. You will create and execute both offensive strategies (to capture new opportunities and expand visibility) and defensive strategies (to protect rankings and address threats) that align with each client’s goals. As a trusted advisor, you’ll lead client strategy calls, present performance insights, and recommend data-driven solutions that deliver measurable growth. You will also support the SEO team by identifying trends, refining processes, and contributing to tiptop’s overall approach to organic growth. Core Responsibilities1. Strategy Development & Execution • Create and manage offensive SEO strategies to capture new ranking opportunities, increase traffic share, and expand into new keyword markets • Develop defensive SEO strategies to maintain rankings, recover from drops, and prevent competitive loss • Conduct advanced keyword research, competitor analysis, and SERP landscape monitoring • Translate business objectives into actionable SEO roadmaps 1. Content & On-Page Optimization • Review and optimize content for SEO, GEO (Generative Engine Optimization), and entity alignment • Provide detailed, actionable feedback to writers and content leads • Execute on-page optimization, internal linking, and schema/structured data best practices • Collaborate with content and creative teams to align strategy with execution 1. Client Communication & Leadership • Lead recurring client strategy calls, presenting performance updates, campaign progress, and next-step recommendations • Build strong, trust-based relationships with clients as their primary SEO contact • Clearly explain complex SEO concepts in a way that is understandable and actionable for non-technical audiences 1. Performance Tracking & Reporting • Monitor keyword rankings, organic traffic trends, and other KPIs using SEO and analytics tools (e.g., SEMrush, GA4, GSC) • Build and maintain performance dashboards and monthly reports • Use performance data to identify new opportunities or early warning signs for declines 1. Strategic Support Across Clients • Provide SEO expertise to support other strategists’ accounts, especially for complex audits, technical troubleshooting, or high-impact opportunities • Contribute to internal SEO knowledge sharing, process improvements, and training materials 1. Continuous Improvement & Innovation • Stay ahead of SEO trends, algorithm updates, and emerging search features (including AI-driven SERPs) • Identify and test innovative approaches to content optimization, link acquisition, and technical improvements Qualifications & Skills Required: • 3+ years of SEO experience (bonus: experience in a client-facing strategy role) • Strong technical SEO knowledge, including site architecture, indexation, and crawl optimization • Deep understanding of keyword strategy, SERP features, and competitive analysis • Experience with analytics, GA4, GSC, BWMT, and SEO tools, SEMrush, and Screaming Frog (bonus: Looker Studio, ChatGPT/AIO monitoring, etc.) • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills Preferred: • Agency experience • Familiarity with AI-driven search Soft Skills • Strategic thinker who can balance quick wins with long-term vision • Strong client presence with the ability to lead high-value conversations • Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple priorities • Proactive problem solver who can anticipate challenges before they arise
