Shopify Plus Architect Elva is seeking a Shopify Plus Architect to join our team. This role will tackle challenging technical problems across a wide range of projects, from internal initiatives to new implementations and ongoing post-launch support. As the Shopify Plus Architect, you will own the end-to-end technical implementation — from discovery through launch and beyond. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of SDLC processes, Shopify best practices, and can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. This candidate will focus on front-end technical architecture , while also contributing to the broader Shopify ecosystem architecture, including app integrations, Shopify API development, and performance optimization. Core day-to-day responsibilities would include hands-on coding, solution design, release management, and peer developer support. Responsibilities • Strategically assess business requirements through discovery and UX/UI to provide solutions that align with technical best practices. • Partner with project management to support the broad delivery efforts through discovery, estimation, technical planning, and agile/sprint cycles. • Complete technical audits through sales and discovery processes with internal and external teams. • Support contributing developers within project teams through peer programming, estimation exercises, solutions and code reviews. • Stay apprised on industry trends and incorporate best practices into our ecommerce strategy • Point of contact for architectural questions around Shopify best practices, performance, data management and Shopify APIs • Ability to plan and implement custom solutions to handle unique business requirements across a wide range of technical and non-technical constraints. • Contribute to technical initiatives across the organization to support engineering efficiency, quality, and growth. Experience • 5+ years of Shopify Plus development experience • In-depth knowledge of Shopify themes, apps, and custom integrations • Experience with writing clear and concise technical approaches, specifications and documentation • Experience with version control systems, testing, and deployment processes • Strong problem-solving and communication skills • Experience with web-based architecture and technical knowledge of modern frameworks and coding structures • Experience with Liquid, Web Components, and React (vue.js is a plus) • Strong understanding of Shopify API’s, data models and content management, including common integrations and best practices with GraphQL, REST. • Hands-on experience working on common ecommerce integrations/solutions (i.e. Products, Inventory, Orders, Customers, Subscriptions, etc. ) • Strong understanding of best practices around release management and environments, including multi-tenant/store solutions, from pre-launch to post-launch • Experience planning and implementing for Checkout Extensibility • Back-end experience with Node and Ruby On Rails. PHP is a plus. • Development and architecture experience with Javascript, Node.js and React.js. Experience with JS frameworks such as Next.js and Remix a plus. Location We are a remote team across North America, operating out of Seattle, San Francisco, San Diego, Vancouver, Portland, Austin, and Denver, and Charleston.
