Job Summary The successful Shopper Insights and Analytics Manager will be the “voice of the shopper” for Carhartt. This role will partner with Carhartt’s business units and connected functions to drive new ways of thinking, providing strategic guidance, and recommended actions for how to win across key retailers and channels (online and offline). Their research expertise is in qualitative and quantitative research studies as well as syndicated data, with a focus on path-to-purchase, in-store observation/virtual shopping, and behavioral data analytics. The Shopper Insights and Analytics Manager will build the shopper insights capability by using omnichannel shopper learning tools to drive smarter and faster decision making. They will be an expert in understanding the end-to-end shopper decision process, develop deep understanding of the shopper journey, and help bring our shoppers to life within the organization. Using data synthesized across multiple content resources, including macro trends, shopper research findings, sales data, and syndicated resources, the successful candidate will have an inherent passion for building and applying analytic approaches to problems but with a consultative bias towards action and implementation. Representative Responsibilities • Drive results for our direct to consumer and wholesale channels, uncovering actionable shopper/consumer truths that lead to effective programs that drive conversion across the path to purchase. • Fluent in data analytics tools, know when and how to leverage tools like (syndicated, POS, and custom research) to identify channel and retailer-specific opportunities to increase Carhartt share. • Synthesize across disparate data resources (shopper, consumer, behavioral) to provide a more holistic view for our wholesale accounts and build the tools Sales partners need to support recommendations. • Leverage customer/retailer shared data to drive relevant and timely omni-channel business recommendations. • Deliver shopper insights expertise to support priority workstreams with the Wholesale Strategy & Analytics team to champion category growth strategies for our retail partners. • Clarify how online purchase behaviors differ from those in-store and how to capitalize on and communicate about the differences. • Communicate data clearly in ways that make Carhartt’s hardworking shoppers come to life for our business units and partners. • Prepare “executive ready” project deliverables and manage communication with key stakeholders. Required Education • Bachelor's degree in business, economics, finance, marketing research, marketing or related field; or equivalent years of related experience in lieu of degree. • MBA or Masters degree in market research, marketing, business management, or related field - preferred. Required Skills & Experience Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in marketing or related business experience • Minimum of 5 years of insights/research experience from a market research agency, consulting firm, D2C retail apparel, or CPG company, or with a syndicated shopper insights provider. • Minimum of 2 years of experience specifically in a shopper insights role. • Self-starter able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver insights in a timely manner. • Demonstrated ability to combine shopper & marketplace trends with custom insights to produce actionable insights, leading to breakthrough strategies. • Experience telling clear and compelling stories to cross-functional partners using Syndicated Data and analytics (NPD, IRI, Nielsen, etc.) in addition to other research tools. • Experience applying their knowledge of e-commerce, retailer databases, and behavioral insights tools like in-store analytics and user experience research to recommend growth opportunities and help prioritize shopper pain points. • Proven track record of experience with retailer influence, partnership, and cross-functional collaboration. • Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize key business issues and translate them into strategic learning plans with clear objectives and methodologies/tools to answer specific business needs. • Ability to synthesize qualitative, quantitative, and syndicated data into insights. • Experience uncovering core issues and opportunities, and engaging others in problem solving and identifying solutions. • Excellent communicator (both oral and written), with strong story-telling skills. • High proficiency in base business tools (Excel/PowerPoint), with expertise in data modelling and visualization with data analysis tools, experience with PowerBI/Tableau preferred. • Apparel retail experience preferred. Physical Requirements And Working Conditions • Travel required (up to 20%). • Willing to work some weekends if necessary. • This position has a Remote location: Associate will have no regular requirement to be on-site.
