Role description
We are seeking a motivated, experienced Senior Data Product Manager to lead data-driven initiatives and oversee the development of data products. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including business partners, data engineering, BI development, and analytics—to define and execute a compelling vision for our data products, delivering solutions that create value for customers and the business. This hybrid role is based out of our Hermosa Beach office. Essential Job Responsibilities • Product Vision & Strategy: Define and execute the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data products. Align with business objectives and evolving needs to ensure maximum value. Maintain regular communication with business units to ensure the strategy meets evolving demands. • End-to-End Lifecycle Management: Lead the lifecycle of data products from ideation to launch, including requirement gathering, prioritization, documentation, and execution of features and enhancements. • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with business, data engineering, BI development, and analytics teams to develop and maintain data products and platforms, ensuring governance, security, and compliance. Proactively address upcoming requirements. • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Act as liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on operations, translating technical concepts into actionable insights. Create impactful documentation and presentations to share updates, demos, and recommendations. Drive engagement and adoption through clear storytelling and visuals. • Data Quality Assurance: Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) and validation to maintain data integrity, accuracy, and consistency. • Data Accessibility & Impact Measurement: Work with development teams and analysts to improve data accessibility, quality, and usability, ensuring it meets business needs and drives results. • Mentorship & Leadership: Guide and support team members, share best practices, foster collaboration, and promote adoption of new tools and processes. Job Requirements • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in business, computer science, data science, or related field; business majors with analytics background preferred. • 7–10 years of experience, with 5+ years in product management focused on data products and platforms. • Proficient in BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Incorta, MicroStrategy), SQL, data visualization, and analytics platforms. • Strong documentation skills for capturing requirements, project status, and user feedback. • Experience delivering product demos and hosting user conferences to support training and adoption. • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and product management tools (JIRA, Confluence). • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insights. • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills to translate concepts into business value and drive collaboration. • Ability to balance long-term strategy with immediate needs. • Exceptional presentation skills, including proficiency with PowerPoint and related tools. • On-site presence at our Hermosa Beach office two days per week. Preferred Qualifications • Retail Industry Experience – understanding of eCommerce, Brick & Mortar (B&M), and wholesale models, with knowledge of how data products drive sales, customer engagement, and operational efficiency. • Knowledge of retail-specific data (inventory management, customer segmentation, pricing) and exposure to retail data sources (point of sale, loyalty programs, supply chain data). • Experience with Finance, Integrated Business Planning, Supply Chain, and Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) processes, including how analytics supports forecasting, budgeting, and end-to-end planning. • Experience with eCommerce platforms and omnichannel strategies, including insights into online behavior and digital marketing analytics. • Familiarity with trends and best practices in data & analytics, especially retail analytics. • Understanding of machine learning applications such as recommendation systems and demand forecasting, plus basic data science principles. The annual salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 USD.
