This is a full-time, 6-month contract position.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated Merchandiser to join the Apparel ecommerce / DTC team to support and drive our aggressive growth goals. In this role, you will position and bring to life the seasonal product lines for the Ariat.com channel, with alignment on our business objectives. The person in this role will identify opportunities and execute strategies in partnership with cross-functional teams in Product, Planning, Marketing, Site Merchandising, UX/CX, Data, and more. This role will report to the Sr. Director of eCommerce Merchandising, Apparel.
We are a relatively new team with a dynamic business, which means change is a way of life and flexibility is a rule, so you will need to be comfortable operating in an environment with some ambiguity.
Youβll Make a Difference By
β’ Managing pre-season assortment planning for designated product area
β’ Recapping and sharing business insights with Product Managers and cross-functional partners.
β’ Recommending growth opportunities and Grow/Maintain/Decline guidance at the Category level.
β’ Directly partnering with Planning on financial targets and strategic direction.
β’ Collaborating with store team to understand and support cross-channel DTC opportunities.
β’ Supporting and recommending promotions / marketing stories
β’ Planning support at the style level
β’ Assortment editing, style ranking, comp style advising, sorting, and selecting lists for Marketing.
β’ Collaborating with Marketing and Site Merchandising / Operations to transition pre-season plans to in-season execution
β’ Reviewing stories and promotions for purpose and priorities
β’ Layering in current information to help with optimization (new trends, product or marketing shifts due to timing / inventory / etc.)
β’ Discussing learnings around optimization to inform upcoming cycles (marketing, launch, assortment planningβ¦)
β’ Driving recommendations for product-driven special site experience frameworks (e.g. special collections, technology stories, etc.)
β’ Stand-alone seasonal projects
β’ Site Priority lists
β’ New launch plans
β’ Site / CX improvement work
β’ Styling notes (for studio)
β’ Process review & improvements
β’ Please note: While there may be isolated exceptions, this is not a product development merchandising role.
About You
β’ 4-6 years merchandising experience (ecommerce experience preferred, but not required)
β’ Strong analytical skills with a focus on translating sales data into business trend / opportunity.
β’ Fluid and flexible mindset, comfortable iterating and pivoting with new information.
β’ Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to build consensus.
β’ Strong interpersonal, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
β’ Attention to detail, well-organized & proactive.
β’ Able to effectively balance creative and operational needs and deliver on deadline.
β’ Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cross-functional team and willingness to take on responsibilities outside primary job description when necessary.
β’ Demonstrates initiative in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
β’ Self-motivated, resourceful with a creative mindset.
β’ BA or BS required.
β’ Ability to perform work onsite in our San Leandro office 3 days a week (min).
