Position: Vice President of Marketing
Role Type: Full-time
Location: New York, NY (onsite 2 days/week)
Salary: $180,000–$200,000 annual base salary (DOE) + bonus
Reports To: CRO
Our client is a fast-growing, DTC apparel brand ready to hire a VP Marketing. You must be located in the New York City or San Diego area because you are required to be in the office 2 days a week.
Some of What You'll Do
As VP of Marketing, you’ll lead and integrate the Acquisition, Retention, and Brand functions during a pivotal stage of growth. With a strong foundation in place and exciting opportunities ahead—including omnichannel expansion -you’ll play a central role in scaling the business and deepening the connection with customers.
This role requires a strategic thinker with sharp analytical skills, a passion for great storytelling, and a proven ability to lead high-performing teams. You’ll work cross-functionally to build a cohesive, data-informed marketing engine that delivers both near-term performance and long-term brand equity.
• Partner with the Chief Revenue Officer and leadership team to define and surpass financial goals anchored in growth, contribution margin, customer cohort payback, and brand strength
• Set and execute the overarching full-funnel marketing strategy to drive sustainable customer acquisition, retention, and brand affinity across channels
• Own the marketing calendar across sales channels including promos, product drops, and brand activations
• Manage the marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to maximize ROI
• Lead and grow a high performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
• Own our evolution into an omnichannel brand, spearheading the rollout of new customer touchpoints
New Customer Acquisition
• Develop and execute acquisition strategy alongside the Sr Mgr Acquisition that ladders up to business financial objectives, including media allocation and channel-level performance targets to optimize aMER and new customer volume
• Lead internal team and external agencies to execute on acquisition strategy across media buying and creative on all paid media channels, including Meta, Google, TikTok, Affiliate/Influencer, and emerging channels, to drive efficient customer acquisition
Retention & Lifecycle Marketing
• Oversee and optimize the Retention engine alongside the Mgr of Retention, including email marketing, SMS, direct mail, mobile push, loyalty programs, and personalized customer journeys
• Analyze customer behavior to inform both acquisition and retention initiatives to optimize customer cohort payback periods
• Collaborate with the Product, CX, and Operations to enhance the overall customer experience
Brand Strategy & Creative
• Define and drive the company's creative vision in partnership with the Director of Brand to elevate brand storytelling and emotional resonance with our target audience, and differentiate us in the market
• Steward the company's brand to ensure consistent and compelling messaging across all customer touchpoints, from ad creative and lifecycle communications to on-site experience and packaging
• Oversee the company's content engine across channels, striking the right balance between brand and performance creative with a corresponding measurement philosophy
What You'll Bring
• 6+ years of marketing experience and at least 3 years in a marketing leadership role within a consumer brand or similar environment
• A collaborative spirit and enthusiasm for building an early-stage brand
• Proven success in developing and executing integrated marketing strategies that drive growth, with a deep understanding of digital marketing channels, customer segmentation, and brand positioning
• Robust marketing KPI literacy with an understanding of how the KPIs translate to financial outcomes on the P&L
• An ability to balance big-picture vision with data-driven decision-making
• Strong project management skills - an ability to translate a vision for a strategy into a detailed roadmap, including overseeing robust execution
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities
• Eagerness to work cross-functionally and mentor emerging talent
