Varaluz is a designer lighting manufacturer with a bold, sustainable aesthetic and a reputation for craftsmanship and character. In May 2025, Varaluz was acquired out of bankruptcy by new ownership and is undergoing a full-scale rebuild of its eCommerce presence. Our products are sold through 300+ brick-and-mortar showrooms and online partners such as Wayfair, LampsPlus.com, and 1800lighting.com.
We're building a high-performance digital team to grow sales, streamline operations, and launch our Direct-to-Designer (DTD) portal through Varaluz.com (launching August 2025). This is an exciting opportunity to take a legacy brand into its next phase of digital growth.
Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on, strategic Vice President of eCommerce to lead the redevelopment and ongoing growth of our digital sales channels. This includes B2B eCommerce partners (e.g., Wayfair) and growing sales on Varaluz.com.
As VP of eCommerce, you will grow and lead the digital team, growing business with our marketplace partners and on varaluz.com. You will set KPIs, manage the eCommerce P&L, and work closely with the CEO, Marketing, Product Design & Management, Systems Manager, and leadership team to drive profitable growth. You will also have control over our new virtual marketplace.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and own the eCommerce and partner marketplace growth strategy
• Lead all digital wholesale channels (Wayfair, LampsPlus, 1800Lighting, Build.com, etc.)
• Manage ad spends on partner marketplaces
• Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing digital team
• Partner with marketing, brand, and product teams to optimize product presentation and storytelling
• Ensure MAP compliance, pricing consistency, and partner-specific merchandising
• Collaborate with Systems Manager on platform integrations and operational improvements (NetSuite, Airtable, EDI)
• Analyze performance metrics across traffic, conversion, revenue, and margin
• Serve as primary point of contact for key eCommerce partners and designer relationships
Qualifications
• 8+ years of experience in digital commerce leadership, with P&L ownership
• Experience managing both B2B eCommerce marketplaces and DTC portals
• Background in home furnishings, lighting, or high-SKU categories preferred
• Deep knowledge of content optimization, product data syndication, and channel-specific merchandising
• Strong cross-functional leadership skills (data, marketing, creative, systems)
• Hands-on experience with platforms like NetSuite, Shopify, Airtable, ChannelAdvisor, or similar
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and execution abilities
• Bonus: Experience managing hybrid or rebuilding teams during turnaround situations
