Role description
The Associate Copywriter is responsible for writing, proofing, and editing digital product copy to promote the sale of merchandise on belk.com. Writes branded, innovative, and accurate customer facing copy while adhering to brand standards, ensuring effective copy is in place to achieve business goals. Job Functions β€’ Curates product descriptions and formulates attributes and features for all products on Belk.com β€’ Assists with edits, writing, and gathering missing information from digital merchandising teams while adhering to all short-term and long-term product/assortment deadlines β€’ Obtains missing information on product based on the requirements of the Product Description Page Style Guide β€’ Verifies accuracy of all features and attributes included but not limited to product information and/or functionalities, while adhering to brand guidelines and legal requirements β€’ Communicates with internal and external partners for the best possible story and product presentation and adjusts copy to meet the needs of the customer, marketing, and management β€’ Reviews trends, consumer surveys, and other data regarding marketing of specific and related goods and services to formulate presentation approach β€’ Benchmarks competitors and brands to identify important trends in retail fashion and home merchandise, ensuring our product copy is fresh and exciting Required For All Jobs β€’ Performs other duties as assigned β€’ Complies with all policies and standards Education / Experience Requirements β€’ Bachelors degree in Communication, Journalism, English, or Public Relations or working years of experience Preferred Education & Experience β€’ Background in Fashion Writing preferred β€’ 1-2 years related experience or training Knowledge & Skills β€’ Strong writing skills to include tone, structure, grammar, spelling, and factual accuracy β€’ Ability to develop creative copy concepts for eCommerce β€’ Ability to work both independently or in a team environment β€’ Background in writing, journalism, advertising, marketing, freelance writer, communications, retail is useful β€’ Highly organized with attention to detail β€’ Able to achieve quotas and daily/monthly goals β€’ Understanding of retail climate, landscape, and terminology β€’ Understanding of SEO is a plus Accessibility Guidelines Belkcareers.com is committed to making the on-line application experience easy and accessible to individuals with disabilities.
