Role description
Responsibilities
As a Retail Domain Expert, you will be responsible for bridging retail industry knowledge with AI-driven applications. Your key responsibilities will include:
β’ Workflow Definition: Collaborate with AI and engineering teams to define the most common workflows within the retail sector (e.g., sales forecasting, inventory optimization, customer journey mapping, merchandising strategy, and store performance analysis).
β’ Evaluation Creation: Develop structured evaluation frameworks and test cases to assess workflow outcomes. This involves defining inputs, expected outputs, and measurable success criteria for retail-focused tasks.
β’ Capability Assessment: Design evaluations to measure the LLMβs ability to perform complex retail functions such as demand planning, product assortment optimization, customer segmentation, trend identification, and risk management.
β’ Data Curation & Annotation: Provide guidance in identifying, curating, and annotating high-quality retail data (e.g., point-of-sale data, loyalty/customer insights, supply chain data, competitive pricing) for training and fine-tuning the LLM.
β’ Feedback & Iteration: Work closely with product and technical teams to provide constructive feedback on LLM performance, recommending improvements to ensure higher accuracy, relevance, and business value in retail applications.
Key Requirements
β’ Domain Expertise: Minimum 12+ years of professional experience in one or more of the following retail areas:
β’ Merchandising & Category Management: Assortment planning, pricing, promotions.
β’ Store Operations: Workforce management, in-store process optimization.
β’ E-commerce & Omnichannel: Digital sales strategies, online merchandising, customer experience.
β’ Supply Chain & Inventory: Demand forecasting, replenishment, logistics optimization.
β’ Experience Levels: Open to entry-level, mid-level, and senior professionals with proven success in retail strategy and execution.
β’ Analytical Skills: Strong ability to break down complex retail processes into structured, measurable workflows.
β’ Communication: Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain retail concepts and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
β’ Technical Acumen: Familiarity with retail technology platforms, analytics tools, and basic understanding of AI/machine learning is a strong advantage. Experience collaborating with technical teams is highly desirable.
