The Role and Your Impact
Responsible for the strategic planning of inventory positions to drive sales, manage inventory turn and meet or exceed revenue and product margin financial targets. You are responsible for delivering a best-in-class customer experience through the strategic management of inventory for all product categories. You will partner with the Merchandising, Sourcing, E-commerce teams and future counterparts in Retail Inventory and Distribution to maximize sales and in-stocks, optimize inventory turn, and drive profitable growth.
What you will do
Create annual and seasonal strategies to drive sales with key goals:
• Strategically manage inventory positions and inventory turns
• Assist with implementing and optimizing the planning software to manage product and increase sales.
• Identify potential sales opportunities and manage inventory targets.
• Manage monthly open to buy reports to increase sales.
Reporting, Forecasting & Analysis
• Utilize historical sales data, market trends, and predictive analytics to forecast future demand for merchandise.
• Develop accurate sales forecasts to guide purchasing decisions and ensure optimal inventory levels
• Own monthly forecasting of sub-category level open-to-buy and recommend near term actions to achieve sales goals and budgeted inventory EOMs.
• Review forecasts against actual sales and adjust forecasts as needed.
• Provide data and insights to merchandising to support decisions made around the product lifecycle, including suggested markdowns vs. carryover styles
Inventory Planning & Purchasing
• Design inventory strategies that balance the composition of new and core (heritage), carry-over merchandise, support in-stock and turn objectives, and fit within the bounds of departmental receipt budget.
• Oversee replenishment forecast at the item level and own placement of replenishment orders, adhering to OTB budget while minimizing out of stocks
• Take charge of inventory control by monitoring stock levels, tracking product movements, and ensuring adequate supply to meet demand across all channels.
Merchandising Strategy
• Partner with the Director of Merchandising to create pre-season, item-level sales plans that align with product rankings, merchandising strategies and tops-down financial goals.
• Determine markdown and end-of-life disposition strategies for non-go forward products.
Qualifications
• Previous experience in retail merchandising
• At least a 7 years of experience in Inventory Management, e-commerce a requirement
• Operated at the Manager or Director level in a high growth business
• Proven ability to objectively interpret data and extract actionable insights that drive the business
• Proficiency in retail math and experience managing a traditional open-to-buy
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills; comfortable addressing all levels within an organization
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines
