Summary Assists the E-Commerce Senior Manager in the daily operations of the business. In the absence of the Senior Manager, will be responsible for the operational aspects of the business. May be responsible for planning, implementing and supervising the work of subordinate staff to ensure production and sales goals are met. Essential Duties And Responsibilities • The E-Commerce Assistant Manager is responsible for performing a variety of duties that support Goodwill’s on-line sales of donated items such as listing products, taking photographs and fulfilling orders. • Works closely with retail managers and attended donation center personnel to identify the most desirable items to sell on various web sites, including but not limited to Amazon and E-Bay. Items to include donated collectables, jewelry and new goods. Routinely communicates particular items that are most desirable for profitable on-line sales. • Works with the E-Commerce Sr. Manager to ensure that the stores and ADCs are following agency procedures for identifying and transporting all donated items that are earmarked for on line sales. • Once products are received in the ecommerce area, ensures that the item(s) are listed for sale on the appropriate web site in a timely manner. • Ensures that all donated items received for on-line sale are cleaned, stored and appropriately identified, clearly identifying origin of item(s) to ensure proper credit upon sale. • Researches value and relevant information about products to maximize profitability of sale. Prepares accurate and well-written descriptions of items. Utilizes current technology and software available to the agency to photograph items for sale and places photographs and descriptions onto auction site for optimum showing along with minimum bid required. • Regularly tracks items posted on on-line web site(s) and answers customer questions in a courteous and timely manner. Posts feedback for the buyer as requested by on-line site. • Facilitates shipping of all sold items within 24 hours and ensures that items are packed appropriately to avoid breakage or other damage during shipment. Handling, packing and shipping of goods may be performed by E-Commerce Coordinator and by other designated personnel and may include, but not be limited to, cleaning, sorting, inspecting, weighing, packaging and completing forms and labels. In cooperation with senior staff will work to engage new and existing staff in order to facilitate the development and goals of the department • Works with accounting personnel to ensure accurate accounting for all items posted, sold, paid for or credits due. • Maintains in-house Excel spreadsheets to document various financial information. • Maintains a high degree of professionalism in written communication with all on-line customers, agency retail personnel and other vendors or outside contacts. • Maintains adequate inventory of supplies for cleaning, storing and shipping items while maintaining a clean, neat and safe work area. • Maintains positive and ongoing communication with agency transportation/warehouse personnel to ensure timely and careful transport of donated goods coming from the stores to E-Commerce area and return of unsold goods to the store of origin or other designated location. • Assists with development of an annual expense and revenue budget for E-Commerce department. Makes recommendations to ensure that departmental goals are achieved or exceeded regarding quotas for posted items and overall department sales. • Ensures quality control of item(s) selected, sold and shipped via on-line sales. • Safeguards company property, following established policies and procedures for loss control. Reports any incident of theft or unauthorized possession of agency property to appropriate personnel. • Searches potential on-line auction sites for competitive information and recommends enhancements to E-Commerce department. • Adheres to all agency policies and procedures related to E-Commerce and retail sales. Ensures that required documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner. • Perform other related essential duties as required or assigned by supervisor. Other Duties May assist at designated retail outlets, as assigned, to identify potential items for on-line sales and/or to train retail personnel in identification of such items. May need to take on supervisory and other responsibilities in the absence of E-Commerce Sr. Manager. Special Requirements Some travel may be required to identify and /or transport identified items from retail locations and to provide training to retail personnel. E-Commerce department may operate seven days per week which may require weekend and/or evening hours. EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); minimum of two years related experience or training. Must have attained at least 18 years of age. Language Skills Must possess good verbal and written communication skills and communicate effectively with others with ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide and calculate percentages. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money. Other Skills Required Strong knowledge of digital photography, use of scanner, computer and knowledge and understanding of the internet and related on-line sites. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out multi-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with occasional variables.
