EVP Finance - (CFO) $300-500k plus 30-40% bonus & equity Dallas, TX or Nashville, TN Bell & Associates has been engaged to help our client recruit their next EVP Finance (CFO). The EVP, Finance will be a key member of the executive team and a true business partner to the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, and senior management team, having responsibility for the strategic and operational financial and accounting processes. The EVP, Finance will provide the company with analytical information and judgment to profitably grow the business. He/she will be a strong financial advisor to the CEO, to management and to the Board. With a significant share of total company revenue coming from wholesale distribution, the EVP, Finance will need to closely monitor cash management and maximize a narrow margin profile. In addition, you will help set the bar for overall financial performance improvement and the strategic direction of the company. In summary, the EVP, Finance will serve as the “Voice of Financial Leadership” for the company, representing finance as a strong partner to senior management and the board in driving company operations. The EVP, Finance will earn the respect of the company for his/her high ethics, integrity, honesty, reliability and consistency. This leader will maintain the integrity of financial information by establishing best-in-class systems and controls to ensure accuracy and transparency. Capably managing financial performance across three unique business segments with a common ERP and a shared services model, this person will command the financial vision and financial execution for the company while negotiating capital markets, debt management and communication of appropriate financial matters and issues to the CEO, the management team and the Board. RESPONSIBILITIES Financial and Operational Management • Take ownership for the financial and operational performance of the Company, including close oversight and management of working capital, capital expenditures, debt and cash levels, key contracts, taxes, budget, and resource allocation management. • Provide leadership and direction to ensure the accuracy of budgets, financial plans, relevant financial management information, analysis, interpretation, accurate accounting systems, and financial controls that align with the strategic business plan, company growth, and market opportunities and direction. • Oversee all accounts, ledgers and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate regulatory and audit requirements. • Manage the Treasury function, including cash flow and forecasting. Drive cash flow optimization activities while enabling strategic investments to support profitable growth. • Have a thorough understanding of the private equity model, i.e., operating with leverage, reporting expectations, having a general sense of urgency, and bringing strategic, data driven analytics to senior-level decisions. • Maintain internal control safeguards and to coordinate all audit activities. To lead and to direct the development of system/process control for financial operations. Strategy • Provide overall direction for maintaining the financial assets and resources of the Company, to provide a system of financial measurement and control, and to manage ongoing treasury activities. • Assess organization performance against both the working forecast and long-term strategy, and make actionable recommendations to improve company performance. • Participate as a member of the Senior Management team to provide relevant data, problem solve, collaborate on high-level strategy and process. Team Management • Lead, manage, and develop a lean and efficient Finance Department, manage work allocation, training, problem resolution, performance evaluation, and build effective team dynamics. • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving performance and providing leadership and/or financial oversight where necessary. REQUIREMENTS The ideal candidate will have recent experience as EVP, Finance for a B2B2C, consumer or Ecommerce business that has completed a digital transformation of a traditional “brick and mortar” business, including supply chain, manufacturing, to optimization of an eCommerce platform with modern data architecture and insights. The successful candidate will have the stature and personal skills to serve as a partner to the CEO, the Board and to the Senior Management Group of the company and be able to develop and drive the strategy and business plan of the company. He/she must demonstrate interpersonal savvy and relationship skills that can have an immediate impact in on the organization. This position requires excellent leadership and interpersonal skills with a variety of constituents, including subordinates, management, and outside advisors. • 15+ years of experience and progressively more responsibilities over finance and accounting functions for a B2B2C, Consumer, or e-Commerce business. • Knowledge and experience in business operations and understanding of the financial drivers of business performance in a B2B2C, Consumer, or e-Commerce business or related business. • Adept and skilled in US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. • Deep knowledge of accounting and controls, revenue recognition, SOX compliance, as well as strong financial analysis skills. • Extensive, successful, full-cycle (due diligence through integration) M&A experience. • Develop and maintain banking, lending and financing relationships to support the company’s strategic plans. Developing external communication materials and holding discussions with auditors, rating agencies, lenders and other key constituents. • Experience with ERP selection and implementation and previous experience with the migration/upgrade of financial, consolidation, and information systems. • Knowledge of all regulatory and financial reporting requirements. • Entrepreneurial and extremely adaptable style. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, roll-up-the- sleeves, and growth-oriented culture. • Hands-on and able to “do the work” as well as manage others.
