#Creative Direction
Role description
This is a hands-on opportunity to build a brand and space from the ground up. You’ll lead the creative and operational direction of both the gallery and the retail store—helping shape a dynamic destination for art, design, and community.
We’re launching a new gallery focused on fine art, wood furniture, and curated designs, with an adjoining retail store featuring sustainable, design-focused home and lifestyle products. We’re seeking a Gallery/Retail Manager to lead both areas—establishing the brand, curating exhibitions, managing retail operations, and building community engagement.
This full-time role combines creative direction with hands-on leadership. You’ll be responsible for daily operations, marketing, artist and vendor relations, and event production.
Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership
• Set the gallery and retail vision, mission, and programming goals.
• Develop systems and processes for smooth day-to-day operations.
Branding & Visual Identity
• Create a consistent visual identity across print, web, signage, and packaging.
• Coordinate with fabricators, designers, and web developers as needed.
Digital & Marketing
• Build and maintain the website, including e-commerce functionality.
• Manage digital marketing, newsletters, and social media.
• Use analytics to track performance and adjust strategies.
Exhibition Programming
• Curate exhibitions and manage artist submissions, contracts, and communications.
• Oversee exhibition layout, installation, and wall text production.
Retail Operations
• Select and manage product inventory that aligns with the store’s aesthetic and values.
• Oversee merchandising, POS systems, and daily retail activities.
• Train and supervise front-of-house staff.
Events
• Plan and execute gallery openings, community events, and product launches.
• Manage event logistics and budgets.
Outreach & Community
• Represent the gallery and store at industry and public events.
• Build partnerships with artists, vendors, and local organizations.
Sales & Guest Experience
• Support sales during events and ensure a strong visitor experience.
• Implement efficient sales and customer service processes.
Administration & Budgeting
• Maintain records for exhibitions, contracts, inventory, and sales.
• Track budgets and recommend cost-effective solutions.
Qualifications
• Experience managing a gallery, retail store, or cultural space
• Strong background in curation, branding, or design
• Familiarity with artist/vendor contracts and gallery or retail systems
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Retail and customer experience knowledge is a plus
