Our Role
We are looking for a Junior Merchandiser FTC (6 months) to join our Merchandising team. With responsibility for a specific product area, to plan and trade each range ensuring that profits are maximized, within agreed company objectives, under the guidance of a Senior Merchandiser / Merchandiser. You will be responsible to ensure that there is a coherent communication strategy for both performance and product issues relating to the rest of the business.
What you'll be doing
• Planning
• To review historical performance and determine future product strategy, working closely with the Buyer to deliver a balanced range with a robust sales, markdown, margin and stock plans.
• Takes a global approach to strategy planning, considering the brand and the
• Manages fully the complexities of the WSSI and categories for planning the season and forecasting risk and opportunity ensuring all channels are fully
• Create space and range plan that incorporates key KPI’s and to deliver a balanced range through the grades.
• To plan new season buy in line with both range, category and department planning across all Business channels.
• To review competitor activity with the Buyer to challenge future product
• To plan intake across the season to create a balanced range. Ensure appropriate stock levels and newness within stock
• To plan pricing strategy, working closely with the Buyer to secure overall margin
• To provide regular performance reviews across all Business
• Trading
• Responsible for the planning of the department and delivering a range that is balanced across the grades and channels with phasing that potentializes every week and channel to deliver the department profit plan.
• Report on weekly trade each Monday, identifying trading opportunities or risks against plans.
• Responsible for proposing and managing markdown plans to drive department sales and achieve terminal targets.
• Ensures the allocation strategy fulfils the department and business needs. Flexibly adapts trading decisions to the required business
• Retail
• To be responsible for the product strategy relating to retail, notably retail ranging, grading and density planning.
• To be responsible for specific stores as notified. To ensure the retail ranging and trading strategy is regularly reviewed and corrective action
• To ensure that regular branch visits are undertaken across the whole team and appropriate reports issued subsequently. To produce appropriate business reports after each visit and follow up action
• Supplier and product maintenance
• To hold regular supplier reviews, to maintain thorough supplier
• To ensure regular communication, to maintain an effective Business partnership with all Suppliers and to improve KPI’s with suppliers.
• To undertake regular Supplier visits and attend buying trips as
• To ensure processes and checks in place to ensure all product records, purchase orders and system maintenance are kept in
• Commercial Awareness
• Multi channel merchandiser responsible for retail, direct, wholesale and B2B and ensure all are potentialized.
• To undertake competitor visits on a regular basis, feedback any relevant points and put into place any required action
• To understand, prioritise and work to the critical dates and deadlines in both the planning and trading process.
• To consistently deliver excellent standards of customer
• Merchandising Systems
• To develop an excellent working knowledge of all Merchandising
• To identify and propose improved working practices and updates to
• To action detailed integrity checks as necessary to ensure the efficient running of the department
• Management and development of team
• To take responsibility for own personal development and to foster good working relationships across the Business.

The Skills & Experience That You’ll Need
• Systems knowledge
• Excellent numerical and analytical ability
• Experience in a Head Office Merchandising environment as a Junior Merchandiser or Senior Assistant Merchandiser.
