The Fresno Police & Fire Chaplaincy is a nonprofit organization committed to being First to Serve—providing spiritual, emotional, and practical support to first responders, their families, and our community. We also lead programs like Project STEALTH to mentor and protect at-risk youth. Our work is entirely funded through donations, sponsorships, merchandise sales, and fundraising events, which means every member of our team plays a part in sustaining and growing our mission.
Role Description
The Merchandise & Marketing Specialist is the friendly and resourceful hub of our nonprofit office, managing the front desk, welcoming guests, supporting events, and overseeing our merchandise program both in-person and online. This role requires a tech-savvy, creative individual with skills in Shopify and Canva to manage our online store, create marketing materials, and help grow our outreach through merchandise sales and fundraising activities.
Based in a lively, fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly, this position is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, can juggle multiple tasks, and doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves to help wherever needed—from setting up events to moving boxes of merchandise. The right candidate will enjoy working in a mission-focused, hands-on setting where every task supports our work serving first responders, families, and the community.
Key Responsibilities
Merchandise, Sales & Marketing Support
Manage the Fresno Police & Fire Chaplaincy merchandise program from concept to customer, including in-person sales and our Shopify online store.
Add and update products, track and organize inventory, process orders, fulfill shipments, and monitor sales analytics.
Keep inventory organized, labeled, and ready for quick access during sales and events.
Design new products, create artwork, and produce apparel using in-house equipment.
Write engaging product descriptions, take and edit product photos, and ensure online listings are accurate and appealing.
· Use Canva to design eye-catching promotional materials, product graphics, and event marketing pieces.
· Utilize HubSpot to schedule social media posts, send marketing emails, and track campaign engagement.
· Ensure branding is consistent across all merchandise, marketing, and promotional platforms.
Event & Fundraising Support
· Provide hands-on help with planning, setup, and logistics for events and fundraising activities.
· Assist with engaging donors, sponsors, and event participants.
· Handle thank-you gifts and recognition items for supporters.
· Contribute to promoting the Chaplaincy’s mission through events, merchandise sales, and outreach materials.
Front Office & Administrative Support
· Greet visitors, answer phones, and maintain a welcoming, organized office environment
· Handle mail, deliveries, and supply needs
· Update records and track interactions in HubSpot
· Arrange food, beverages, and meeting areas to create a welcoming environment.
· Provide general administrative support and prepare materials as needed
General
· Adapt to daily changes and shifting priorities in a distraction-filled environment.
· Work closely with staff, chaplains, and volunteers to support the Chaplaincy’s mission.
· Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity at all times.
Qualifications
• Must pass a background check with the Fresno Police Department
• High school diploma or equivalent; some college or specialized training preferred.
• Familiarity with Shopify, Canva, Microsoft 365, and HubSpot or equivalent programs
• Comfortable managing an online store, creating eye-catching graphics, and working with digital tools.
• Strong computer skills and the ability to adapt to new software quickly.
• Prior experience in office administration, customer service, or a related role—nonprofit or ministry experience a plus.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
• Creative thinker with strong written and visual communication skills.
• Works well in a busy, distraction-filled environment.
• Flexible availability for occasional evening or weekend events.
• Able to safely lift and move boxes up to 50 lbs.
