Key job responsibilities As a Software Development Manager, you will define and drive the technical strategy for building Search experiences, leading a team of engineers to innovate at scale. You will collaborate across science, product, and design teams to deliver next-generation solutions that enhance shopping journeys for millions of customers. A day in the life • Thinking big and collaborating with product leadership and business stakeholders. • Owning the end-to-end technical strategy and delivery roadmap. • Defining initiative goals and owning all associated metrics, using data to drive decisions. • Architecting scalable, resilient AI-driven systems that can adapt across multiple product categories and shopping missions. • Leading and mentoring a team of engineers and applied scientists, building a culture of high technical standards, innovation, and ownership. • Reporting regularly on development progress, quality, operations, and system performance to senior leadership. • Maintaining a relentless focus on operational excellence, system reliability, and rapid iteration to meet customer needs. Basic Qualifications • 3+ years of engineering team management experience • 7+ years of engineering experience • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations • Experience partnering with product or program management teams • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or equivalent Preferred Qualifications • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.
