Based in sunny Southern California, our Retail Support Center (RSC) is the heart of our corporate operations, dedicated to supporting both our retail and online stores. Position Summary
The Sr. Merchandising Systems Analyst plays a critical role at the intersection of technology and merchandising by supporting, enhancing, and streamlining the tools and systems used by the Planning, Allocation, and Buying teams. This position is responsible for analyzing existing merchandising tools, identifying areas for improvement, and working closely with cross-functional partners to develop new solutions that drive efficiency and accuracy across merchandising operations.
Key Responsibilities
A typical day may include:
β’ Improve merchandising tools by:
β’ Meeting with personnel in the planning, allocating, and buying departments to identify issues in existing tools.
β’ Proactively performing independent reviews and analyses on existing tools to discover areas for further improvement.
β’ Collaborating with the Director of Retail Systems to resolve issues and develop new tools.
β’ Perform pre- and post- implementation support by:
β’ Performing in-depth tests on new tools or modified existing tools to ensure that errors are eliminated before rolling out to end- users.
β’ Serve as the primary contact person when end-users need support for merchandising tools.
β’ Assist in the launch of modified or new tools by.
β’ Clearly articulating in writing and verbally all changes that the end-users should be a ware of.
β’ Ensuring all users understand improvements and use them appropriately.
β’ Assist with periodically running a library of merchandising reports.
β’ Accommodate report requests from planners, allocators, buyers, and management on an as needed basis.
β’ Help with ad hoc projects as they arise, either independently or in collaboration with other team members.
β’ Create, produce, and present complex analyses on historical data or other information.
β’ Work with others on the Merchandise Systems team as well as in IT to maintain Tillys merchandising systems, which include JDA, MicroStrategy, and SAS Merchandising Planning.
β’ Help launch new systems to end-users by:
β’ Providing training
β’ Clearly communication benefits and proper use.
β’ Ensuring reliability to end-users to ensure their comfort in using new/ updated tools.
β’ Works with business users to document reports and analytic requirements and translate into technical solutions.
β’ Works with IS Architects to identify data issues and develop reporting metadata schemas.
β’ Lead coordination of the QA test process and migration of objects through the change control process.
β’ Performs troubleshooting and provides resolutions to reporting issues.
β’ Works to develop and deliver end user training.
β’ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

β’ Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

β’ Proficient in Excel and MS Word
β’ Capable of translating technical concepts to non-technical end users
β’ Self-starter with a proactive approach to learning and improvement
β’ Basic understanding of data warehousing (DW) concepts and dimensional modeling
β’ Proficiency in SQL, specifically MS SQL Server
β’ Experience with data integration and working with new data sources
β’ Familiarity with MicroStrategy or other BI (Business Intelligence) platforms
β’ Experience with Oracle Merchandise Financial Planning preferred
β’ Background in retail strongly preferred- including knowledge of retail operations, merchandising data, and Retail Inventory Method (RIM) accounting
Education & Experience
β’ 5-7 years of professional experience in IT systems analysis, business intelligence, or database/reporting development.
β’ At least 3-5 years of experience working with retail merchandising systems or within a retail/eCommerce environment.
β’ 2+ years of hands-on experience with MicroStrategy or other enterprise-level BI tools.
β’ High School Diploma required; bachelorβs degree preferred

β’ Professional office setting with low to moderate noise
β’ Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
β’ Occasionally lift/move up to 20 lbs. and navigate stairs
