The Vice President of Data will lead the data organization, establishing a comprehensive data strategy that drives decision-making and enhances customer insights while ensuring data integrity and governance. Responsibilities: • Build and Lead the Data Organization: Design the structure, operating model, and roadmap for Mixbook’s functional data team including analytics, data science, and data governance, and hire, develop, and lead a high-performing team. • Define and Operationalize Data Strategy: Establish and execute a data strategy that aligns with Mixbook’s growth goals and product roadmap, ensuring the right architecture, tools, and processes are in place to deliver trusted data at scale. • Drive Business Intelligence and Insights: Partner with executive stakeholders to define key metrics, unlock business insights, and improve visibility into customer behavior, funnel performance, revenue growth, LTV, CAC, and operational efficiency. • Establish Data Governance and Compliance Standards: Develop policies and systems to safeguard data quality, access, retention, and regulatory compliance (eg, GDPR, CPRA). Lead implementation of a scalable governance framework across teams. • Enable Predictive Modeling and Experimentation: Apply statistical modeling and machine learning techniques to develop forecasting models and predictive analytics that guide product, marketing, and customer decisions. • Partner Cross-Functionally to Drive Impact: Work closely with Product, Engineering, Finance, and Marketing to embed data strategy into product development, experimentation, financial forecasting, and campaign design. • Ensure Data Infrastructure Performance and Scalability: Influence decisions on architecture, tooling, and engineering standards to support data availability, speed, and security in both production and analytical environments. • Promote a Culture of Data Fluency and Curiosity: Uplift data literacy and ownership across Mixbook by making data more accessible, trustworthy, and actionable for stakeholders at all levels of the organization. • Drive innovation through AI and emerging technologies: Actively explore, test, and integrate modern AI tools into data products, analytics workflows, and business processes to enhance decision-making and accelerate outcomes. Qualifications: Required: • 12+ years of progressive experience in data, analytics, and data science roles, including 5+ years leading data organizations at the VP level. • Proven ability to architect, communicate, and execute a bold, business-aligned data vision in smaller, high-growth environments. • Adept at framing data insights for C-level audiences and driving strategic decisions through trusted analytics. • Deep knowledge of modern data infrastructure (eg, Redshift, dbt, Airflow, Looker), ETL pipelines, governance systems, and cloud-based environments. • Strong mastery of BI, statistical modeling, machine learning, and experimentation frameworks. • Understanding of compliance frameworks (eg, GDPR, CCPA), data lifecycle management, and privacy-by-design principles. • Ability to translate technical data concepts into business implications and influence without authority. • Demonstrated success mentoring and developing data professionals into senior leaders and directors. • Comfort operating with limited historical data, ambiguous business needs, and evolving product-market signals. • Experienced starting with small teams and limited resources, then scaling to a high-performing organization. • Track record of influencing product, engineering, marketing, and executive teams through data-backed decision-making. • Experience automating data workflows and enabling self-service analytics across the organization. • Experience standing up company-wide data governance and privacy frameworks, especially those touching customer data and regulatory requirements. • Passion for making data a strategic business asset, not just a back-office function. • Already be experimenting with modern AI tools and be eager to expand their application within the organization. • Capable of delivering personally in the early stages, then delegating effectively as the team grows. Preferred: • Prior experience in consumer tech, DTC, or eCommerce preferred. • Experience operating in global, remote, or fast-scaling environments is a plus.
