Job Description
The Vice President of Commercial Strategy is a key member of the Ashford Asset Management leadership team and reports directly to the EVP & Head of Asset Management.
Primary Priorities To Include
• Partnering with the EVP & Head of Asset Management and the broader Asset Management team to ensure best-in-class Revenue Management, Sales, Digital Marketing, and Distribution strategies are in place across all Ashford-owned assets
• Supporting Asset Management efforts to drive RevPAR Index growth and optimize total revenue performance across all channels and revenue strategy
Fundamental Requirements
• Set and lead enterprise-wide strategy for Revenue Management, Sales, Digital Marketing, and Distribution across all Ashford-owned assets.
• Lead Revenue Optimization calls to evaluate commercial performance and identify opportunities in collaboration with brand and management partners.
• Analyze internal data, brand reporting, and market intelligence to identify and communicate actionable revenue opportunities.
• Partner with brand, management, and third-party teams to develop pricing strategies that optimize business mix and drive market share growth.
• Monitor deployment and resource utilization across commercial functions to ensure operational efficiency and goal alignment.
• Identify and activate new revenue streams or cost-saving initiatives by leveraging emerging trends, channels, and technologies.
• Provide strategic leadership for above-property digital marketing across the Ashford portfolio, including Marriott Field Marketing, Hyatt Field Marketing, Hilton ECG, and Remington Digital Marketing.
• Offer expertise in marketing plans—paid media, earned media, social campaigns, promotions, and partnerships—to achieve sales and financial goals aligned with Ashford’s performance expectations.
• Measure, track, and enhance integrated marketing strategies across channels and device types, ensuring alignment with best practices.
• Ensure cohesive integration of Pricing, Yield, and Sales strategies into Distribution and Digital Marketing efforts.
• Monitor group and transient pickup and pace; communicate forecast gaps and revenue needs to the Asset Management team.
• Guide the Analyst team in producing timely and accurate revenue reporting (daily, weekly, monthly) through the analyst team.
• Lead strategic projects from concept through implementation and contribute to enterprise initiatives as needed.
• Partner with the Capital Management team on planning renovations and other ROI projects.
• Build and maintain value-add relationships with external partners (e.g., OTAs, Cvent) and integrate best practices across Ashford assets.
• Support earnings calls and board meeting preparation with strategic insight and commercial performance updates.
• Serve as a commercial thought leader for brand partner relationships through owner calls, committees, and informal engagement.
Requirements
Key Talents and Experience Desired:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Revenue Management, Sales, and/or E-Commerce within the hospitality industry, with multi-property or above-property leadership responsibilities
• Ability to travel domestically 25-50% per month
• Deep knowledge of industry performance and benchmarking tools (e.g., STR, Agency360, Demand360, Kalibri, Rate360, OTA Insight) and property financial statements
• Proficient with hospitality systems including PMS, RMS, CRS, and Sales Automation platforms
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; proficient in Word and PowerPoint
• Strong working knowledge of statistical concepts and data interpretation
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment (20+ projects simultaneously)
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through
• Highly analytical with demonstrated ability to clean, analyze, and draw insights from large data sets
• Strategic thinker with a track record of developing innovative, brand-aligned solutions across markets and partners
• Strong relationship-building skills; collaborative and team-oriented
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent communication, presentation, and persuasion skills to influence internal stakeholders and external partners
